From Blue to Color Blasted

This picture shows how I sent off my silk ribbon embroidery round robin block.  It was all blue, and I didn't specify any particular theme for it.

And here is how I got it back.  It's a carnival of color and gorgeous!  I was so surprised at how they made a blue block pop so much.  Thank you Arlene, Candji, Diane and Susan for doing such wonderful work on my block!  I love it.

Another project I'm going to have to concentrate more on!  Marquoir just finished this piece, so I have three months to get mine done.  Needless to say, the kaleidoscope has a higher priority, but this one's coming right after.  There are about five or six more parts left.  I can get it done.

Fiori Finished

Yay, it's done!  Another Christmas ornament to be stitched up.  Just in time too - Marquoir is starting another small project next Sunday.

Susan's Silk Ribbon Embroidery Block

I was the last person to work on Susan's SRE block.  This round robin went by -fast-.  Here is her block before my work.  There were a lot of odd areas that needed filling in.
So here is what I did!  I added butterflies on the pink and a spray of flowers on the blue at the bottom.  I also did some flower buttons on the purple on the right side.  There were a couple of seams I did too.  The most prominent is the one that uses Peking stitch across the trunk of the tree in the middle.  It was mailed to Susan last week.  I hope she likes it.

Soy Celeste

So, Uruguay won its quarterfinal match in the World Cup yesterday and the country went wild.  They're still partying.  I had a nail appointment today, and so... someone dared me to get my nails done for Uruguay.  Here they are.  I was evidently the first customer to request it!  Uruguay's colors are a light blue and white, and they have a sun in the upper corner of their flag.  I think the nails came out well.  Now to see if I can keep them this way.
The nail techs were all over this too, and we had to show off every step.  They played with how to make the sun.  It's the first time I've had my nails done in more than one color, and also the first time I've had them done in any of these colors!

Did I mention that I got my feet done too?

Next Time

Next time I work on this, I'm going to finish all the cross stitches.  Yay!  I still love the colors on this and look forward to starting the specialty stitches, even though I'm not fond of queen stitches.  There are a lot of those.

Silk Ribbon and Temari

I participated in an exchange for spring on the Talk Temari board.  It had to be floral and springy, and I wasn't getting any inspiration from geometry, so... I decided to branch out.  I took out my silk ribbons and embroidered the ball all over.  I might do it differently next time, as I feel there are some places more blank than others, but I like the overall effect.  I added some glass and plastic beads too.  The recipient in Sweden is very happy with it, so I can now share it here.
