Spotted on the Street

We left the house for a walk with Mattie, and this car was parked across the street.  It's an old Ford Taunus.  Yes, Taunus, not Taurus.  This looks to be a late 1960's model with a weird Barracuda back thing going.  Evidently they were made in Germany.  One's still running around here.

Still on Six

I got the second and third parts of this log done.  It's complicated!  There's satin stitching to do, then it'll be complete.  This time, I wrapped metallic thread around all the back stitching and filled in the small spaces.

Easter Bounty

A large percentage of each grocery store was stocked with Easter eggs and bunnies and such for most of April.  Here's a picture of some of the pretty eggs.

Resisted!

I successfully resisted starting the fourth rectangle until the third one's done.  It's completed now, so I just have to work on this last part and the stitching will be done.  Yay!

Dinner at Umaga

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Umaga for dinner.  Umaga is one of the newer restaurants in the neighborhood, and is only open Thursday through Sunday.  On the other nights, they have cooking lessons.  One thing Umaga is known for is mojitos.  Unfortunately, we only had one round.  They were out of mint.
The bread couse.
Their version of bruschetta.  Bread is on the side.

Andreas' main course - pasta.

Melina's main course, salmon, on a huuuge plate.

I had duck in a wine reduction.  All were excellent, although, according to Andreas, the pasta wasn't anything special.

By the time we were ready for dessert, Marlena joined us.  She had the rest of my duck and Melina's salmon.  Melina and Marlena split a cheesecake slice.  This is half.

Andreas had a passionfruit thing.

I had apple crumble.  Umaga's a pretty expensive restaurant, but the wait staff is friendly, the menu (on iPads) is in Spanish and English, and the portions are, to say the least, generous.

One Last English Garden

Arlene's is the last of the English Garden blocks for me to work on.  She wanted pastels, and I picked this fan.  You can see what I did in the photo below.  It's been on its way to her for over a week now.

Mattie's Friend

This is Casio the Pomeranian.  He is owned by Leo, who has him stuffed in his shirt.  Casio is Mattie's bestest friend (Mattie's blog: www.sharrvelous.com).  They get along famously despite the extreme size difference.  Casio loves riding on the motorcycle, so I thought I'd share these pictures so you can see how he does it.
