Big Dinner At Roata Vremii

On one of the last days suitable for dining outdoors in the evening, we went to Roata Vremii with friends.  Because we had so many people, we decided to do the big mixed grill.  It included pork, beef, chicken, and vegetables.  Some of us had zeama, and we had cheese placinte and dolmas too.

The food was excellent; I think Roata Vremii has the best placinte anywhere I've tasted so far.  The soup was also great.  The mixed grill could have gone a bit lighter on the eggplant and a bit heavier on the beef and chicken, but that's just how Moldova is. They are very high frequency pork eaters.

Down To The Meadow

I've got no more castle to do.  It's all down to the meadow in the foreground.

Martishor Temari

I've been starting more temari than I've been finishing lately.  I feel so far behind on everything!  Anyway, this is a simple renzoku I'm doing, and it looks like something for the local holiday here of Martishor.  I think I might make more for that in March!

At The Robin Pub

The Robin Pub tries to be an English pub in Chisinau.  It serves mainly Moldovan food, though.  The service was awful, even for Chisinau.  Cigarette smoke filled the air of the terrace, where we sat, and we almost left before the waiter deigned to notice us ten minutes after we sat down.

Overall, the food was worthy of a pub of the 1970's.  My soup and chicken were very, very bland to the point of tastelessness.  Andreas' meal was, according to him, better.  The Greek salad was merely okay, but the pork and apples was very good.  My onion rings were limp circles of previously frozen potential goodness.  They were definitely not crispy on the outside and were brought to the table cold.

I understand that the Robin Pub does things like wine tastings and tango nights.  They probably need them, as people would not come back for the food or service.

Exchange From Joyce

I received Joyce's autumn ornament in the mail.  Isn't it cute with the leaves and acorn?  It's hanging on the key rack in my office now.  Thank you, Joyce!

Thin Green Line

The border looks pretty good at this point, and I even got to start filling in the middle.

Homemade Birthday Food

Not my birthday, but Megan's!  She had a big birthday party at the Marine House, and all of the food was homemade.  You can see the spread here - from meatballs to meat trays to caprese trays to mother-in-law's tongues (the eggplant cones).  It was all good, and we had a great time!
