Smokehouse Is Open

These photos were taken of the official opening pour of Smokehouse, an American barbecue joint in Moldova.  They opened at the end of June  From left to right, the people are David Smith, Matt Stahlman, US Ambassador James Pettit, and Vlad Shuleanski.  Three of the four are the owners; they worked very hard over the period of a year to open it.

Mom's New Spoon

Andreas insisted we add to Mom's spoon collection with this framed antique silver spoon framed by MolDeco.  I hope she likes it.

On To The Next

It's time for the next gargoyles to be started and the tails of the current ones to be done.  My arch is becoming more defined, too.

Don't Bar The Buddha

We had a great late June lunch at Buddha Bar, outside on the terrace.  It was my first time there.  Service was slow and spotty, but the food, when right, was delicious, as was the wine.  I think the best part was the meat plate pictured above.

Got Shots?

Andreas' new travel shot glasses to go with his Ukrainian theme.

Just About Halfway

This is almost halfway done with outlining the tubes.  I have another pass or so before I start filling more in on the plane on Tuesday.

Night At Carpe Diem

While getting ready to leave Moldova, we decided we needed to taste new wines to bring with us to Angola.  Enter Carpe Diem.  The wine bar is very small - our table took up the entire space - but very stocked with Moldovan wine from small wineries.  We, along with ten of our friends, enjoyed an evening of wine tasting and delicious food.  We also ended up buying several bottles to take with us.
