First Angolan Earrings

Continuing my earring collection - I bought these at the monthly market on the Ilha.

Not A Fan

While we were out shopping to fill up our cooler to take to Africa we stopped for dinner at Carraba's.  The atmosphere was all about little kids - there were LOTS of them.  And it was noisy.  The menu was small and very much repackaging the same five things into different dishes.  We did order things.  The waitress was obviously distracted, the food was meh, and we won't be going back.  Lesson learned.

Stepping Up

I brought this in the air baggage hoping to finish it, as I haven't worked on it since Uruguay.  It's in my rotation now, and I've completed another block on it.  If I complete a block each time, it should be done in no time, right?  I'll even have something old finished!

Last Lunch With Melina

The day before we left Virginia we had lunch with Melina out by her workplace.  It was at Coastal Flats, which seems to be a chain centered on DC.  The food was good.  Andreas especially liked the deviled eggs.  We liked the bacon on everything.  I had a bunless burger off their gluten free menu and Andreas had chicken.  Melina had pecan crusted fish.

Egged

The egg's done.  It was a fairly easy stitch, just one I hadn't been doing for a while.  I have a few more eggs to do, but they're still on their way here.  I've gotten several things done since leaving Moldova.  I hope that, at least, continues.

First Fabric Purchase

There's a monthly market on the Ilha, and we went a couple of weeks after getting here.  That's where I found this fabric.  It is all cotton, bright, vivid, and six yards -for about $25.  Not bad.  Now I have to figure out what to do with it.

Brunch With Sean, Irish Style

The Irish pub around the corner from our apartment in Arlington had a Sunday brunch, so we decided to go with Sean before he hit the road home.  The food was good, though my burger was more like a chivito, in size and ingredients, than a regular burger.  Andreas had the brunch buffet and enjoyed having deviled eggs and corned beef hash.
