Name That Bird

We saw this bird at the sea wall a while back and have been unable to identify it.  Anyone know?  I've got a couple more pictures of it.

    Meg - This looks like a heron. A night heron or a crested heron. Might want to check your local bird books under heron. I'd love to know what you found.
