Evidently this is the kind of thing Polish workers ate during lunch in Communist times and before. It was a stop on our Praha food tour. The white is potatoes. There was bacon and some other stuff in it too.

Old Market
Praha has a lot of old buildings, unlike the rest of Warsaw. It was abandoned during the wars, so there was less reason to flatten it. We passed an old market that had been in the same place since the 1800's. Even during communist times, it functioned. Now it is withering away because of the abundance in modern Poland.

Praha Food Tour
Last September we went on a food tour on the other side of the river here in Warsaw. Praha is the new, hip, place to live. First stop was a nice little bakery/breakfast place.

The Warsaw Mermaid
Warsaw has a mermaid as its patron. This was from a story long ago when mermaids from the river came to save it. This statue is in the Rynek, the Old Town Square. The mermaid's face is based on a woman who died in the Warsaw Uprising. Oh, and yes, it's an ice rink around it. This photo was taken in January.

Yes, Even More Pottery
We were going near Boleslawiec on our long road trip, so Andreas decided we had to stop. At least we had some room in the car...

More Pottery
Of course Andreas insisted on stopping in Boleslawiec during our long road trip last autumn. And, of course, we bought lots more pottery.
