Culture Clash

On July 7th, the American Chamber of Commerce of Moldova (AmCham) had an Independence Day party.  It was supposed  to celebrate everything American, but  what it did show was how different we really are.

From the obscure 1960's themed music and trivia questions - most of the Americans had never heard most of the tunes - to the buffet scrum when the food was served, it was all a reminder of how far from home we really are.

Freeform Temari

I've got this about halfway done; my students wanted to learn new stitches to use on temari, and I obliged.  They learned detached chain, stem, spider web, fly stitch, and how to make silk ribbon irises!

Another Sarkis Lunch

I tried the Russian summer soup (it sounds like okrosh, but that's not how it's spelled) and a kebab at Sarkis last month.  Andreas had Greek salad, with a new presentation style, and cheese-filled lavash.  The soup tasted like milk with lots of dill and chopped veggies in it.  It was chilled, too.  Definitely different.  The kebab was huge and tasted okay.  Meat just isn't normally done well here.

Second Attempt

Here's my second attempt at a C 10.  I don't think it came out as good as the first one, but I have practice to do.

Oklahoma In Moldova

Eco Valley is an organic fruit and vegetable business started by an Oklahoman former Peace Corps volunteer here in Moldova.  Don't the veggies look great?

C 10 Done

I think this came out pretty well!  It's certainly bright, as I used kyo temari thread on top of the metallics.

Pizza Caruso Again

Definitely the best pizza in Chisinau, and when we went out in June, everyone agreed!
