Buffalo Grill In France

Yup, France is undergoing an all things western craze.  You can see it in various small things, such as restaurants.  We've so far passed up all the "tex-mex" restaurants as too scary.  On the other hand, we did try this steakhouse not too far from our apartment.  We were automatically served salad, bread and popcorn.  The dressing on the salad was a passable imitation of peppercorn ranch.  My mojito was rather bland.  We shared their appetizer plate.  The jalapeno poppers were made with peppers that tasted like bell peppers but were shaped like jalapenos.  The onion rings were sweet.  Barbecue wings were passable, and the southwest rolls were a bit bland, too.  All was served with barbecue sauce.

Andreas enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger with fries.  It was a good half pound burger.
The steaks all come with your choice of sauce.  I chose bernaise, which was somewhat of a mistake, as the sauce was nearly flavorless.  The steak was tender and juicy, though, and made two meals for me.
Buffalo Grill is evidently a chain, as we saw advertisements for it in other cities.  They really do need to change the decor from 1870's bordello, but otherwise, it's a great value.

One Square Complete

All the stitching on the top right square is done.  The top left is almost done, too.  Every time I work on this I like the look of it more.

Burgers And Beggers

Benny Burgers in Deauville charged an extra 2.50 euro per person for eating in their dingy old restaurant, so we took our burgers on the street.  They were good burgers; the fries were blah.  Either way, they weren't worth 12.50 euro each - and that was the take out price.  We did have some begging sparrows who wanted some too!

More Than

Yay, I'm more than halfway up now!  I can see the end of part two.

Lunch In Honfleur

Despite the breeze and chill, we ate lunch outside in Honfleur last week.  At least it was bright and sunny!  I had a cup of cider and Andreas had water.  It's nice, now. Most places you can get tap water in France.  It used to be they'd only sell you bottled water.  The tap is free, and comes in cute bottles.  We shared a cheese plate.  Andreas discovered that he doesn't like Pont L'Eveque cheese.  He liked the others, though.  I had a buckwheat crepe and remembered why I don't like buckwheat.... Andreas liked the omelette under his fries very much.  It was stuffed with bacon and cheese.  The fries were crisp and hot, too.  I had a (better) crepe for dessert, as it came with my menu.  No more buckwheat for me! I've learned that I don't like it.

Spring-y Ornament

It's a Christmas ornament, really!  It even has reindeer and trees.  It's just done in tropical colors....

Napoleonic

A beautiful napoleon from a bakery in Deauville.  Isn't it pretty?  It tasted good, too.  The cream had more body than usual and didn't taste like vanilla pudding.
