Ancient Temples

Paestum is an odd place. You're surrounded by farmers' fields and very little in the way of development then boom! there's an ancient city.  Speculation is that the coastal area dried up and it became further and further inland, making it unviable.

Sanctuary

A bit of Rievaulx's sanctuary. You can tell it was light filled and pretty in its time.

 

Horse and Temple

They decided to put a modern horse sculpture between the temples for some unknown reason. It kind of fits? This temple is the temple of Juno. Paestun was huge. Only about 20% is uncovered.
