Viennese Ice Rink

After cleaning up the Christmas market that's in front of the Rathause in Vienna, they lay down a serpentine ice rink.  It's neat to watch, and there are a few food booths around to make you warm, too.

In The State Rooms

The top painting reminds me of Mordor.  All of these were in the Albertina museum's state rooms, which are made up like the 19th century living areas they were.  I even got to see Durer's rabbit!  It was interesting.

Degas Horse

Before he painted ballerinas, Degas painted horses as a teenager.  This is one.  The other is a landscape by another artist.

Picasso's Plates

These plates were made by Picasso while he had children living with him.  I see them as his attempt to get his kids  to clean their plates!

Breitling Catalog

I have decided I want a particular Breitling watch.  Unfortunately, it's not made for women yet.  We did look in the Breitling store and they gave us this catalog, though!

The Picasso Room

The room most people came for is the one I call the Picasso room.  It had about eight paintings by him in it, but my favorite is the Max Ernst one with the big yellow moon.  I also really liked the Magritte there, too.  I am very meh on Picasso.  The peace dove above is the one that I like most of his works.  The rest just leave me ...

Impressions of Impressionism

I went with a friend. Iulia, to the Albertina museum in Vienna in January.  There was an exhibit from Impressionists to Abstractism.  We viewed it.  Here  are some of my favorite paintings from the exhibit.  It was a wonderful two hour wander.

Spanish Riding School

Until they announced it, I didn't realize I couldn't take photos in the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.  I was there for morning exercise.  This was the only photo I took.  It was interesting watching the horses learn and practice, and the riders, too.  I passed a memorable, if cold, hour and a half watching them in January.

Yarrrrn

Andreas made the mistake of booking us into an apartment with a yarn shop on the same block, then didn't take photos soon enough for me to start while still in Vienna.  Result?  These balls are going in my stash and the afghan I'm making is using Caron Cakes.

Butterflies In Every Photo

Despite the cold December temperatures, the butterflies were out in the conservatory.  Can you find them in all these photos?
