As Far As I'm Going For Now

I managed to get to stitch 38 or 39 before getting to the end of the fabric on my TAST sampler.  It's been a learning experience, including that I really need to baste edge lines before I start.  I've learned some new stitches and played with others.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with the finished product.

Super Long

This piece is over two feet long now.  I'm almost to the edge of the fabric, where I'm going to call it an end.

Casting On

I have finished the sampler through the cast on stitch.  It's getting closer to the end.  I think it looks kind of neat so far.

A Few More Done

I have twenty six lines done now on my sampler and am within ten inches of the bottom of the fabric.  Getting toward the finish!

More Stitches Taken

There is less and less left on my length of fabric to fill.  I've had some fun with a few of these stitches, but my main thing on this is to push through to the end at this point.

Six More Stitches

As part of my ongoing effort to finish things, I've started back in on my TAST Sampler.  There are six more stitches!  I finished the bargello, then did the stem, French knot, wheatear, crossed buttonhole, and half chevron stitches.  Go me!

TAST 11 To 13

Weeks eleven through thirteen done on my sampler.  I seem to be catching up, somewhat!

Finally, TAST Week Ten

It's been quite a while since I worked on this.  That sampler stitchalong took over, and I wasn't able to do much.  Sooo.... I'm back to it!  The tenth week was running stitch.  I found this darning pattern and turned it sideways to use.  I like it!

TAST Week #9 - Couching

I couched some pretty thick gold torsade onto the sampler.  The purple was used to contrast with it and tone down the bling a bit.

TAST Week #8 - Chain Stitch

As I had already used chain stitch as part of my week two, I just did a simple chain of chain stitches....

TAST Week 7 - Detached Chain Stitch

I decided to make a couple of motifs for this stitch.  They look a bit like snowflakes or chrysanthemums to me.

TAST Week 6 - Chevron Stitch

I decided to couch down a piece of rickrack with chevron stitch.  As it came together, I was bemused by how complex and lacking in structure it looked versus how easy it was to do.

TAST Week 5 - Herringbone Stitch

I decided to try a temari design on a flat surface for this stitch.  The stitch used most often in temari is herringbone.  I think it came out all right, but it looks a lot different than it does on a ball.

TAST Week 4 - Cretan Stitch

I decided to thread my Cretan stitch after doing it.  I kind of like the effect.  It looks like a  warm scarf on a cold winter day.

TAST Week 3 - Feather Stitch

Some of the samples in Sharon's post for the feather stitch reminded me of the grape vines surrounding this city.  So, I made some!  Feather stitch and French knots.

TAST Week #2 - Buttonhole Millipede

It looks like a millipede to me, at least.  The center is a row of chain stitches, with outward facing buttonhole stitches lining it.

Crazy Start #3

I started my Take a Stitch Tuesday sampler on the third.  The first stitch was fly stitches, so I made these little square fly stitch motifs.  Each Tuesday Sharon Boggon adds a new stitch to experiment with.  It's informal, so there's always an opportunity to jump in!
