Dinner With Moldovan Friends

Friends I used to work with in Moldova came to Warsaw for an exchange. I got to work with them again! So I also took them out to dinner, where we found Moldovan wine. Dinner was at Restaurant Lwow. We had a great time. 

 

Talk About Disappointing

The January Yum Box was from ... Poland. Where do I live? Poland. So it had nothing special for me.

 

Diverso Lunch

This pizza restaurant is the little brother of the Michelin starred restaurant next door. Andreas took me here for lunch. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than other pizza places. It's also right next door to the Sejm, so it gets a lot of politicians. Pizza and salad were very good, but the pickled onions were pickled in something too sweet for my liking.

 

Lunch Out

There was nice weather on a Friday, so Andreas took me out to lunch. This place is about a ten minute walk from the office. It's good, too. Right on Plac Konstitucja, it's called U Szwejka. We split a schnitzel and each had a soup - he had zurek and I had gulash. Both were nice and warming. We had leftovers, too.

 

Not Quite American Food

While Jeff's Diner has the atmosphere down, the food is disappointing for an American vibe. Everything is just - off. The nachos were sad. It was such a disappointing experience.

 

Random Polish food

Considering what this is, it could be from any of a dozen restaurants I can think of. Anyway, Andreas enjoyed it.

 

Saint Nick Gift

Poland is one of the countries that does their stockings on December 6. This is what I found in mine at my work. Thank you colleagues!

Andy and his wife gave us this truly awesome rude food. It's fried brown sugar and tastes great, even if it looks like it shouldn't be in mixed company.

 

KitKat Box

Decided to try Japanese KitKats from ZenPop. Have yet to get around to opening them.

 

Thanksgiving Cookie

One of the cookies the embassy cafeteria gave out with Thanksgiving dinner. It's kind of cute.

 

Brisket

Brisket straight from the smoker. Polish beef. It's hard to get a good cap of fat on the brisket here, but it still tastes very good.

 

Czech Snacks

This had quite a bit of stuff in it - a lot weird. The Ghost Snack went to my boss, who loves Halloween. Garlic chips not bad. 

 

Whiskey Live

We went to a massive whiskey festival last month here in Warsaw at one of the soccer stadia. It was a fun time and we found a new favorite gin. Leonora attended her first ever curated private whiskey tasting.
