Dulles Airport Food
I got to the airport much earlier than I should have because I had to leave my housing and had a bunch of luggage. Since I was at the airport for lunch, I stopped in at this place in terminal D. Had a long island tea, some french onion soup, and a roast beef sandwich. The wait staff was very nice but the food was blah.

Somewhat Cheesy
I went to dinner with Kerry and her parents at the Cheesecake Factory in Clarendon. The food and company were very good! I had a margarita and a long island tea to drink. We shared a zucchini appetizer, and I had the tacos. There was so much food I only ate two of them. Wish the shells were flour instead of white corn, but that was my only complaint.

Not So Texas Barbecue
After helping with consumables shopping, I was taken to dinner at Texas Jack's. A friend had told me it was like being in Texas. Decor, maybe. Food? No way! No Texas barbecue joint would put radishes on its nachos. There was so much foo foo greenery that it could never be mistaken for Texas barbecue. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't Texan.

Blue Nails
I went to the same nail place twice while I was in training. It's Ivy Nail and Spa in Arlington. They did a really good job. This is a photo taken the day I got the manicure a week ago Saturday. Even doing my daily stuff, the (non-gel) polish stayed on just above a week before beginning to chip. It's a really good deal, too.

Cheesy Dinner
On Sunday I went out with Kerry and her parents to the Cheesecake Factory here in Arlington. We had a good time catching up and some good food. All of us shared a fried zucchini appetizer. I had a long island tea and a margarita. For food, I had two of the four tacos pictured. I was stuffed! They were good, but not very spicy. I also wish they had flour tortillas. A good time was had by all.

Melting Potted
A week or so ago a friend and I went to The Melting Pot in Arlington. I normally like fondue and truly enjoy every time we go to Simply Fondue in Fort Worth. Unfortunately, I was not nearly as impressed with this place. The drinks were nice - mine was an eiderflower fizz. The cheese was okay, but there weren't many choices. Ours was supposed to have a somewhat Mexican taste to it, yet I could find no trace of it. Salad was small and not too well presented. The choices of meat were also fairly meager. They also used a broth for the meat instead of oil. This made the meat more dry and rubbery. Not the best. Dessert was okay, but they were out of our top two kinds of chocolate. I think I will keep my future fondue forays to Fort Worth.

Dinner With Friends
Had dinner with Regan and the kids the other night at Silver Diner. It's a weird place, but the food was okay. For some reason, the DC area is full of small, odd chains that are no where else in the country. Perhaps all the government employees make the economy better? We all had sandwiches of some sort. Mine was a philly cheese steak.

Lunch At Ollympians, Alexandria
Last week I went shopping with a friend at Wegman's in Alexandria. After shopping, we decided to eat lunch at a place close by called Olympians. It was still just before noon on a weekend, so they were still serving breakfast, too. We decided to do Greek. I introduced her to Greek cheese - saganaki - and we had a bunch of food, including leftovers. The avgolemono was good, though it could have used more lemon and less rice. The gyro meats were also good. Tzatziki was a bit runny.
This is one of those restaurants that tries to do everything. On its menu was breakfast, Greek , Italian, pizza, and hamburgers. They could do a lot better if they cut down the menu and concentrated on doing fewer things well.

Last Lunch With Melina
The day before we left Virginia we had lunch with Melina out by her workplace. It was at Coastal Flats, which seems to be a chain centered on DC. The food was good. Andreas especially liked the deviled eggs. We liked the bacon on everything. I had a bunless burger off their gluten free menu and Andreas had chicken. Melina had pecan crusted fish.

Brunch With Sean, Irish Style
The Irish pub around the corner from our apartment in Arlington had a Sunday brunch, so we decided to go with Sean before he hit the road home. The food was good, though my burger was more like a chivito, in size and ingredients, than a regular burger. Andreas had the brunch buffet and enjoyed having deviled eggs and corned beef hash.

Reunion Dinner
After going to the Maryland Renaissance Fair, we had dinner with the Perez-Milams and my son. It was a good time to catch up. Our dinner was at La Sandia in Tyson's Corner Mall. Was also kind of interesting to watch all the high school students dressed up for homecoming. The food wasn't TexMex, but it was pretty good anyway. I had shredded beef tacos and Andreas had chicken ones.

Airport Food
W got to Dulles Airport very early because of the check out time on our apartment. Lunch was called for once the bags were checked and we''d passed through security. Andreas had a Cuban sandwich and I had chicken fingers. Not surprisingly, the food was unremarkable.
