Brno Market Crowd

The crowd in Brno last year was huge. Part of it was because there was a Battle of Austerlitz re-enactment going on plus a youth hockey tournament. I'm sure a few were just tourists like us, too.

 

Quilt Show in Brno

In Brno center, on our way to the Christmas Market, we stumbled on a quilt show. Of course we went in. There were some fantastic quilts, including one made by a Czech astronaut. She quilted part of it in space. It looks like the view from the portholes. This is a very active quilt club. I wish I had one close here in Warsaw.

 

Brno

We stopped in Brno to go to Christmas markets on our way to Prague. Brno is a very pretty little town.

 

Runner and Mats

This little peacock set caught my eye at the Brno Patchwork Guild's sale, so I bought them.

 

Beeswax

I bought this little beeswax bit from the quilt guild in Brno. It will be used.

 

Quilted Ball

When we went to the Christmas Market in Brno, we found a quilt guild selling things! And one of the things I bought was this pretty ball. Turns out Brno is the center of quilting and patchwork in Europe. Who knew?

 

Prague Box

It's a good thing I bought this for the tin box. There were like four candies in it. But at least I have the cute box.

 

At The Tavern

This was the best food we had in Prague. We had to walk a lot to get there, but it was worth it. Even with reservations, you might have to share a table. All barbecue, and all worth it. 

Another Prague Restaurant

This was at yet another restaurant in Prague. It wasn't bad, but the pasta could have been better. Lots of bacon on the pizza. We found the restaurants in Prague to be meh in general.

Small Forge

Back behind Prague castle was a small fair for St. Wenceslas day. And at that fair was a blacksmith who was letting his son do some work.

Good Soup, Poor Sandwich

Andreas got breakfast and I got lunch. I think his was better, outside of my soup. The mushroom soup was delicious. The rest was meh. For such a tourist town, we didn't find many great or even good restaurants in Prague.

Prague Food At Husinec

This was one of the first meals we ate in Prague. It wasn't very good, but the cider was. We were so looking forward to a good meal, but they didn't really deliver. We also noticed during our whole trip that portions in Prague are small.

Bead Ornament

This is the first of the beaded ornament kits I bought in Prague done.  Next time, I think I'll read the directions first, or at least look at the photos.

Got Glass?

Blown

It was definitely not as hands on as i would have liked, but when we visited the glass factory, we were allowed to blow some ornaments.

A Flute

We saw these beautiful champagne flutes while at the glass factory. They came home with us. We managed  to fit all six in the suitcase.

Prague-y Earrings

These were cute, so I picked them up at one of the bead shops in Prague.

DIY Earrings

These are truly bright silver, not the color on the screen. I made them from parts bought in Prague while we were there.

Bead Bling

As a crafter, what do you bring back from Prague? Beads! I bought a LOT of beads. You can see them below. They are from four different bead stores within walking distance of our apartment. Not a bad haul.

More Prague Clock Stuff

A keychain and a fridgie magnet, also about the clock. The clock was unveiled while we were in Prague.  It had been undergoing renovation for the past year or so.
