Commissioned Temari

A friend commissioned this temari for her daughter's birthday.  She picked her daughter's favorite colors and the pattern, and I think it came out pretty well.  Not only that, I got to practice my C 10 marking!

Half Across

I am working on the center motif of the top band of the sampler.  It's very close to being done.

La Placinte For Dinner

On a recent Sunday afternoon, we went to a late lunch/early dinner at La Placinte.  This was not the location we usually go to, but the food was the same.  Andreas had salad and I had soup.  Both were good.  We got a picture of someone else's fried potatoes - we were there with two other families - and  the yellow half sphere is mamaliga.  My roast chicken was dry as dust and not very flavorful.  It's something I will not order again.  The placinte with cheese was good and greasy as usual.

Brand New Stash

I had been looking for this stocking canvas on sale for a few years for Andreas.  When Pocket Full of Stitches had its sale in January on all canvases, I jumped right on it and they ordered this one for me.  The rolled it up and packaged it beautifully and it got here in perfect condition.  I'm hoping to have the time and to find some stretcher bars big enough to start this soon.

On To The Last

I've got all the stitching done on the wings.  On to finishing up with a  body and antennae and some sparklies.

Itching To finish

I have maybe ten rows left.  I think it's time to just start working until it's done.

Cornering Again

Large stitches make quick progress.  I'm currently doing the largest stitches on the piece.  This means lots of progress, right?

Classification Issue

This is a new, to me, piece.  A friend asked me  to finish it for her.  She's done all the stitching to this point, but it's languished for six years because working on it gave her headaches.  It's an Art Goblen design, and it's very out of my comfort zone.  On the other hand, there's a -lot- done already, so it shouldn't take me too long to finish.  It's now in my rotation.

How Cool Are These?

Andreas found me 3D printed Dr. Who cookie cutters!  Aren't they cute?  Now I need to get the shelving in so I have room in  my kitchen to roll out cookie dough.  I hope they come soon!

Bits Of Tree

Just a few bits of tree this time to show.

Mall Peugeot

Don't see any Peugeots in the US, so this is for all the Americans.  It actually looks pretty, but I bet the steering radius is awful.

Shelled

The big scallop shell is done.  Time to get the B finished.

Still On The Twig

Well, I'm only doing the frame now.  This one long bamboo twig goes back and forth in the same colors with only enough change to be annoying.  It'll be done eventually, though.

Dinner For Two At Pegas

We ate at Pegas at the end of January, just the two of us.  Andreas had Greek salad and I had a caprese salad with proscuitto.  It's hard to find decent proscuitto here, but this was very good.  I could have used some more balsamic glaze, but it was good nonetheless.  Andreas also had a pasta and rabbit dish that he thought was excellent.  I had a steak and grilled veggies with mozzarella.  It was all good, as usual, even if the portions were huge for me.  Cappucino at the end served with flair.

Looks Like Winter

From the moment I started this temari, it spoke of winter to me.  It's done now, and it still does.

Crazy January Challenge Day 31

I've got one last start for January, then no more new starts for quite a while.  This little Just Nan piece should go very quickly.

Little Bits

Just little bits of progress on this.  It's coming along, but it's not much to see.

All But The Top

The next to last part is done!  Yay, only the top left to do.

Crazy January Challenge Day 30

I've got parts of one dragonfly done now.  This beats where it was last year with no dragonfly stitched at all.  This should be pretty quick if I can get to it...

Filling In Background - Again

Just more filling in the background here.  It's got a lot of background at this point.

A Crazy Quilt Start

This is the block I picked out to work on from Pam's set of the Fool's Gold round robin.  The lower picture is my start.  She said she wanted large motifs, so I'm obliging.  It's a pattern from Mary Corbett's site.  I am doing the paper method because all that tracing on these fabrics would be rather difficult.  I've got a pretty good start.

Crazy January Challenge Day 29

This is a Mill Hill kit I picked up on my last trip to the US.  It's baseball, so always appropriate!

Some Colors

I've put a few colors of the ten on this to bed.  They're done.  I still need to complete about 25 more rows, though.

Down To Three

Down to three buildings to finish on this side.  Getting things done!

Getting Brighter

The whole piece seems to be getting brighter to me.  I like it being cheery.

Crazy January Challenge Day 28

This is another start from last year.  It's a French sampler, and I got more done on it.  Unfortunately, there's a whole lot to go.

Starting To Fill

I am now working on the border filling.  No bigger than this!  everything now is filling things in.  Yay!

Treeing The House

I've been adding more green leaves and a bit of stucco to the building.  The edge of the page creeps closer.

Crazy January Challenge Day 27

It's so crewel!  This is a crewel piece called Tree Motif by Tanja Berlin.  I need more crewel in my life, and really like the look of this piece - and that I didn't have to transfer the design! First steps were appliqueing some organza on.

The Long Lines

Long lines to fill in make slow progress - and not many color changes.

Another Octagon Ornament

I love these little octagon designs from Kick Back 'n Stitch.  They work up quickly and make cute ornaments.  Here's another one done!

Crazy January Challenge Day 26

I had started this a while back and put it aside for some reason.  Mercury is done, and now it's time to stitch Venus.  I like this a lot and don't know how it fell out of my rotation a few years ago.

Going Into The Turn

Just about ready to turn the corner on this last corner.  For some reason, this one seems to be going a bit more quickly than the last one.

One And A Half

One and a half flower sprays on the left out of two.  I'm getting closer to finishing this part.

Pine Needle Temari

I decided to make a pine needle all over temari.  I've gotten a square and a half done so far.

Crazy January Challenge Day 25

A small ornament started in January and finished by December?  I can hope!
