Quick Present

It took me all of two days to do this.  I hope the recipient likes it.

Bits Of Framing

The quatrefoil in the middle is beginning to take shape.  Still a lot of framing to do.

Second Moving Fireworks

Second of six little videos.  I can't upload more than one to a post.

Moving Fireworks

Little point and shoot video of the fireworks on the night of the tenth for Angolan Independence Day.

I Can See Now

The dragon officially has an eye now.  I've also started getting a little done on the first curve downward.  It feels like progress.

Angolan Independence Night Fireworks

Angola celebrated its independence day on November 11, the same as our Veteran's Day.  That means we get one less holiday off because of the overlap.  On the other hand, it was the fortieth anniversary of independence, so they put on a very nice fireworks show we could watch from the apartment.

One Birdie Done

One birdie is all done and I've got some other bits started too.  The good thing about bayeux stitch is it goes fast.

On To NIne

I am trying to get one section done per session.  So far, I'm keeping up.  The last one had a really weird weaving bit.  Still not sure I did it right, but it looks okay and dimensional.

One Turtle

One turtle done of about a dozen.  I'm working this over two on 40 count linen .  He looks cute.

More Apartment Views

While these shacks are not really sanctioned, the people in them have air conditioning and satellite tv.  They are also right below our apartment building.  There's also the view of the port and harbor here, too.

Star On Red

This is my first temari finished in Angola.  I gave it as a birthday gift last night.  I kind of like the little star in the big one.

Birdie, Birdie

The first little bird is partially filled in, and I think it looks pretty good.  Now is the time for getting the rest of it done.

Apartment Views

We are near the top of our apartment building.  I knew I was acrophobic, and I had hoped to deal with it, but I have been having daily episodes of vertigo and other problems since moving here.  We should be getting a house by the end of January.  In the meantime, I cope and get to take the dog up and down the elevator thrice a day.  Some of the views are pretty, though.

Crafty Project

I brought some of my For The Makers boxes with me when I left Moldova.  Finally, I got to do a project from them.  This is a pinata made from the box, mylar (icky to work with), and tissue paper.  Not too bad.  It's even filled with candy.  Give some decoration to the apartment.

You're The One

The dragon is still looking like a rubber ducky.  Eventually it'll change, I'm sure.  For now, though, I have Ernie's song going through my head.

Not Very Appetizing

Two days after we arrived in Angola CLO had organized a lunch.  We went; our sponsors were gracious enough to give us a ride.  The place was Fazienda.  It's hard to find and in a farther part of town.  Since we were money strapped from not being able to cash a check, we ended up with pasta.  It was okay; the sauce was nothing more than olive oil and a bit of lemon juice.  Not exactly a great introduction to Angola.  Our second dinner out, a couple of weeks later, was much better but Andreas didn't let me take photos.

Superior Grill

We had to go to Shreveport to pick up the puppy and evil cats before leaving the country.  While there, we had dinner with Andreas' parents at Superior Grill.  They've changed their menu some.  We shared the nachos.  I had barbacoa tacos and Andreas had enchiladas, as did his mother.  His father had chili rellenos.  The food was pretty good, but I wish we had Mexican here.

Over Halfway

Looks like this is going to get done on time.  And then only one more month to go - the thread for that one got here on Friday.

To The Bottom

The bottom stitch of this piece is stitched!  That means I'm getting much closer to being done.

Another Curve

I've got another curve of the dragon's skull done.  For some reason, this seems to be going very slowly for me.
