Started On Six

I am now working on the sixth part of this mandala. The backstitching is still on the fourth part, but I've made a bit of progress.

Basketweave Earrings

This artist uses traditional basketweave techniques to make jewelry.  Her earrings are made of wire and stone, and she even uses the harder version of basketweave of going clockwise instead of counterclockwise.  I love the look and the creativity and boldness of translating the technique to a complete new medium.

Yay, It's Done!

I feel like I've been slacking so much on stitching despite being alone and not working.  It brings me joy, therefore, to finish something off!

Little Bits Of Roof

I now have little bits of roof done.  Progress.

Another Blurry Photo

I couldn't get the camera to focus on these earrings, either.  The left ones are made of wampum shells.  The right is Acoma pottery.  Acoma pottery reminds me of the Romanian pottery I bought when we were in Moldova.

I Have A Tree

I have a tree on my sampler.  There are five across, and one and a half are done.  Things are coming along.

This Is Not A Corner

It looks like I am coming to a corner.  I am actually coming to the center, though.  Not quite to the middle of the top yet.

Lapis Earrings

For some reason, I could not get the camera to focus properly on these earrings.  Anyway, they're about two inches  tall, lapis, and the gold is actually gold over copper.  Bought them in Taos.

Green And Great Wings

A bit more green done and all the wings getting filled in.

More Orange

I have a lot more orange done now.  The pink bit is stalled for the moment.

A Capital Meal

Mom and I ate at Capital Grille during restaurant week in Fort Worth.  The food was very good, and I got a bit of steak sustenance.  Mom had salmon, which she liked.  We also did a flight of American wines.  They were not quite as good as Moldovan ones.

Second Started

I'm about halfway done and the second mushroom is started.  I think the first one looks pretty good!

Lunch At Blue Mesa

Mom and I went to lunch at Blue Mesa Grill on Wednesday.  I had fajitas because I wanted them, even though they were huge.  Mom had a soup and salad.  I didn't like their chips - they were mainly sweet potato chips with very few corn chips in them.  The rest was very good.  For some reason, they serve the fajitas on a salt block that's been heated.

Blingy Barrette

This hand beaded barrette was found at Indian Market in Santa Fe a week ago.  It's all sparkly and pretty in my hair.  It even matches the kurtas I brought with me.

Butter-flying By

Still working on the background, a lot of it, and making one of the wings look full.

All Filled In

The inside of the diamond is all stitched now.  I won't be cutting until everything else is done.  Not sure I like this working from bottom to top.

Trashed

Lots of trash on the beach.  It's this way all over Angola.  Trash piles up and up and no one takes care of it.  There's not a single complete block in Luanda that doesn't have trash like this on it.  Depressing.

So Close

I'm down to the bottom edge of the border.  It looks like I will finish soon!

Little Things On The Beach

Little crabs, some perfect shells, footprints, and structures and debris on the beach.

Little Bits of Roof

Bits of roof beginning to take shape.  It's got a lot to go, though.

New Section

I've started a new section!  It's time to start peacocking.

Down The Coast

More vessels up and down the coast for miles.  Talk about depressing.

Another Long Shot

This is just the top corner of Peace Wheel.  At least there's some progress.

Washing Through The Wreck

I tried to capture the look of some of the water washing through a grounded wreck.  It'd flow in and out and take tiny bits of rust with it.
