On a Cloudy Day

We visited Westerplatte on a very cloudy day. The photos are somewhat brooding because of it.

Puppies on the Road

Out on the road with friends while Chad ponders his choices in life.

Project Riese Guard Room

All of this was excavated with smaller tools and then finished out. The excavations didn't start until late 1943, and then were abandoned in early 1945. You can see what they were meant to become in the guard room, which is just after the entrance.

The Barracks

This was actually the barracks where the first battle of WWII began. There were fewer than 100 men. Yet they managed to hold out for two weeks.

Living Their Best Lives

All the puppies relaxing and enjoying their best lives.

On the Way to Underground

Hitler had a plan to build an underground city at the end of the war. He even started it. The plan was to have hundreds of square miles underground. This is one of the entrances, in a sleepy village in Poland. All of it is in what is now Poland, in the southwest corner. They used concentration camp slaves to build it. This is the nice little entryway.
Because all the workers were killed, this place and the plan weren't even discovered until decades after the war. Here's the entrance to the city. It was called Project Riese.

Westerplatte

This area is where the very first battle of WWII began. It's a beautiful little wooded area along the Baltic coast.

Mainly Carol

For once, a set of photos that spotlights Carol! She loves being the center of attention.
