At The Top

Here's the top of  the fortress.  As you can see, although it sits next to the Dniester (Nistru) River, it has a great view of the countryside.

Big Tree

I think the giant tree on the left is done  Yay!

Through The Windows

All these photos were taking from inside the fortress at Soroca looking out.

Bits Of Roof

Little bits of rooftop appear on the bottom side of this.

Inside The Fortress

These photos are all of the inside of the fortress at Soroca.  As you can see, it was a sunny summer day.  I'd hate to have to be in this draft place in winter!

Right At Halfway

This is coming along and is pretty, but it's huge for a Christmas ornament.  Now I'm on the narrowing down part.

Three More Halves

Only three more half lines of stitching and I'll be done with this!

I See Stefan Cel Mare

These are pictures from inside some of the rooms at the fortress at Soroca.  This first one is of Stefan cel Mare, the hero of Moldova.  He held the Ottomans off and also built this place.  I don't think the rest of  the carvings are original to the fortress, either, but they're interesting!

Nearing The End

The house is all cross stitched!  Now to finish off the garden and work on backstitching.  I am in a slump right now, with the feeling that I never finish anything.  My rotation hasn't changed in months!

Close On Eight

I'm very close to getting part eight done!  Then it's on to complete the other two parts on the left.  At least it seems to be going more quickly now that I've got those two large center panels done.

Another Greek Restaurant

We decided to try a different Greek restaurant downtown, and we were glad we did!  El Greco is much better than Opa, foodwise -  and decor-wise, too!  The tzaziki is fresh and much thicker than Opa.  Their terrace is enclosed and not on the street, so noise is reduced.  The tables are huge and you don't feel cramped like at Opa.  I had zeama and a kebab.  Couldn't finish the kebab because it was so large, and it had spices that weren't dill.  Andreas' Greek salad was pretty, as was his pita plate.  He was very pleased with the taste of the chicken.
