Hungary Challenge Coin

We bought a challenge coin for Andreas in Budapest to add to his collection. Challenge coins come in giant sizes these days.

Basket Weaving Kits

When we visited the hobby shop in Budapest, there were a bunch of art supplies, a few embroidery supplies, and basket weaving supplies. So we bought basket weaving kits! Now to find time to make them...

Hungarian Burger King

We were very tired when we rolled in to Budapest, so we saw this Burger King just around the corner from the hotel and went.  This was the first Burger King we'd seen in eastern Europe.  It was very similar to American, but the fries were better.

Back To Bazilika

We got food poisoning from our second visit to Bazilika.  We were disappointed.  The whole staff had changed in three days, it seems, and the food tasted like it.  I wonder what happened behind the scenes.

Mall Food

 The mall near the train station in Budapest was CROWDED because it was December and Christmas shopping.  We found a place to eat a sit down lunch after waiting 20 minutes for a table.  The lunch was good, with goulash and sandwiches.  My sandwich was chicken, and Andreas' was a cubano.  He loved his.  Mine was okay.  The goulash didn't have much in the way of chunky stuff in it, but the broth was good.  We were at the mall to go grocery shopping for sweet potatoes, which you cannot find in Moldova.  You can find them most everywhere else in Europe now, but not Moldova.

Covered Market In Budapest

This is the view from the second story o the covered market in Budapest.  It's huge.  It's also a great place to get lost, though some booths are geared toward tourists, with commensurate prices.

Hungary's Hellish Kitchen

We stopped at a market booth for lunch one day, and it was awful!  The service was slow and the food was cold and blech.  The name of the place, we found out later, was Hungary's Hell's Kitchen.  Evidently this was their Christmas booth.  It SO made me not want to go to their restaurant!

First Bazilika

We went to this restaurant at St. Stephen's square in Budapest twice.  The first time was really good.  The second time was awful and we both caught food poisoning.  The only difference seemed to be the staff.  I had a cappucino to warm me up, and we both had goulash.  I also had a steak and egg thing while Andreas had chicken paprikash.  His was better.

Beautiful Counted Work

I found this beautiful table runner at the market in Budapest.  It's all hand stitched, with both  cross stitch and pulled work.  I love it.

Faire Food

The Christmas fairs had a variety of food - more so than other towns we've been to.  I stuck to a traditional sausage while Andreas tried goulash in a bread bowl.

New Cow Fur

We found this purse at the Christmas market in Budapest.  It's in my collection now.  I have made a cow fur convert of Andreas.

Pickling

Budapest Knife

If you haven't noticed it yet, there's a travel theme with my husband.  Where ever he goes, he tends to bring back a knife.  There are worse things for a world traveler to collect.  The latest addition is this one from Hungary - along with two extra belt cases for his every day carries.

Eggses

I found eggs in Hungary to add to my collection.  The one in plastic is a real goose egg.

Cookies!

Evidently Hungary's Christmas cookie market isn't as advanced as Germany, France, and Austria's.  I found these and they're pretty, but they don't have nearly as many kinds.  

Pretty Candles

I found these candles at the Christmas market in Budapest.  Not only are they pretty, they smell nice and are made of beeswax.

New Archery Toy

My husband found this beautiful horse archer bow case at the Budapest Christmas market.  He fell in love with it, so it now resides in our house.  Still haven't learned when he's getting the horse.

Hungarian Beeswax

Adding to my international beeswax collection with a piece from Budapest.

New Backpack

We picked up this pack at the Budapest Christmas market.  I think we saw something similar at four other places, but this had it best made and least expensive, both.  It's all leather, unlined on the inside, and smells good.
