Stobi Tasting And Lunch

The food at Stobi was pretty good and local Macedonian. We had a large number of courses and six or seven wines. A few of the wines made it home with us.

Medallions

The medallions are similar to the ones found in the Roman city ruins not far from the winery. Evidently the area as also known for wine back then too.

Blue Storage

Stobi's wine "cave" is bathed in blue light. I have no idea why.

CLO took a trip to Stobi winery last July. Here is our tour of the manufacturing process. I find it not as well run as in Moldova.

Breakfast In Skopje

Andreas wanted to sleep in and we didn't consider the breakfast at the hotel to be excellent, so we explored and had breakfast at one of  the riverside restaurants. It was good.

Too Much Food

On Sunday night we ordered waaay too much food. We wanted to taste a lot more things before coming home. So we did. My caprainha was pretty good, and Andreas had Pelisterka water, which is a local brand there with a neat label. I loved the onion rings. The hamburger was meh. Balkan burgers use a lot of spice in the meat; it's an old habit to hide bad meat. I don't like peppery burgers!

Boat Appetizers

A drink and an appetizer on Saturday night before we went out for dinner. The food was fried cheese - a variety I had not tried before. They put honey on it, and it was pretty good. My drink was a Long Island tea. Andreas had a rum and coke.

View From The Restaurant

This was the view from our hotel's restaurant as the sun set. We were there for appetizers  and drinks before going out to dinner. Mainly because the restaurant wasn't really that good.

It's A Crepe!

Time for the crepes! We went up a mountain outside of Skopje and found Macedonia Selo. It was a great place, and they serve great crepes.

"Light" Lunch

Sandwiches and soup by the river in Skopje. The weather was very nice, so we ate outside a lot.

Macedonian Deliveroo

Sometimes you wonder why Macedonia has some things Kosovo doesn't - like a restaurant delivery service. I miss that.

Stari Kuca Restaurant

We were told to go to this restaurant by a friend from North Carolina who gets around to all kinds of odd places. He was right, Stari Kuca (Old House) restaurant in Skopje was wonderful. The food was good. Andreas' hamburger was humongous. The staff was friendlly and attentive even while setting up for a tour group. They even have live music late in the evening. We'll be back.

Rainy Day Food And Magic

The day was rainy in Skopje, so we fetched our Magic cards and hopped over to a cafe. There, we had lunch and played for a few hours as the rain came down. The waiters were obviously amused and the food was delicious.
