Chilly Climb

The weather was cold, but not freezing, in Edinburgh.  And there was no snow, but there was an occasional drizzle.  We managed to stay fairly warm as we wandered about,  These photos are of views in the castle and from the walls as we went up the first wind toward the military history museum.

I really liked the tree.  It just looked proud but naked.  And we found flowers in December on one of the rocky scarps.

More Battery Views

These views are not from the parapet, so they've got a different perspective.  He also turned around a bit, too.

Views From The Battery

Just after entering the castle, there is an artillery battery area.  These are some of the views from it.  Needless to say, it's got a good range for cannon.

On The Walls

These photos are from the entrance wall of Edinburgh Castle.  This castle is a living structure - it changes constantly.  Kind of neat to watch.

Off To Edinburgh

We went to Edinburgh with Cheryl on one of our trips.  This was a LOT of walking!  The castle is at the top of a hill, of course.  Anyway, we went inside Edinburgh Castle and wandered around a lot.  Before we went inside, Andreas took photos outside the gates.

My Personal Whiskey

Each of us got to blend our own whiskey from several 15 and 18 year old single malts.  Special!  It's a day I will never forget.

At The Works

Of course we learned about the whole process of making whiskey and went through the factory and warehouse areas... they were interesting, too!  I especially loved some areas we weren't able to take photos, like the still pots.

Our Classroom

Yes, I'm a nerd.  I was enchanted by the room Glengoyne uses as a classroom.  It just gives me warm fuzzies with the whole quasi-science lab vibe.  I had a great time in it, even before the class started.  Look at the mock ups of the still pots and stirrers!  Aren't they beautiful?  And sample bottles and jars ... heaven.  Plus just plain room to spread out.  I miss that kind of room.  I don't have it at home.
