Texafrench

Nearing the end of our home leave, we realized we had not hit up La Madeleine yet.  This visit remedied that.  I do love their soups and french dip sandwiches.  Their caesar salad is good, too.

Lunching Ol' South Style

Andreas had a reuben and I had chicken fried steak.  Gotta get my gravy somewhere!  It was gooood.

Take Some Thai

Andreas' mom wanted Thai food as her last non-airport meal in the US before flying off to Japan.  I found Oceanic Thai Kitchen in Carrollton.  It was evidently a good choice, because Mike and Betsy had been to this place before during a quilt show and loved it. Everyone but me had bubble tea.  I had soup instead.  The food was very good and authentic too.

Parental Visit

Andreas' parents came over to DFW because his mother was flying to Japan the next day.  We spent the afternoon tasting wines and ciders in Grapevine as we explored its old downtown.  First stop was Messina Hof, Texas' oldest.  I had a champagne cocktail.  We all shared a cheese platter. And Andreas' parents tried a flight of wines.  The place was super crowded because there was a party going on upstairs, where there is normally more seating.

Fondue Anniversary Dinner

We had our anniversary dinner at Simply Fondue.  It was very good, as usual, and we had a good time cooking our own food.  For some reason, we forgot to take photos of dessert.

Tasting At Trinity

The tour ended with a tasting.  Here's a photo of my flight of vodkas (plus water).  Still no where as good as the Zubrovka gold, though.

More Of Trinity

Trinity River Distillery not only makes whiskey, it makes vodka.  They also have a bunch of flags across the distilling room.

Tour Of Trinity

Trinity River Distillery has opened in the old Ranch Style Beans plant.  They can't do much in the way of renovation because it's a historic site.  The place is very close to downtown Fort Worth and definitely worth the visit.  We went on our anniversary.

Disappointing Olive Garden

We went to Olive Garden for Andreas' ravioli.  Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed.  The Olive Garden food was just plain bland.  It had no taste.  Color us both disappointed, and we will be crossing Olive Garden off our "must visit" list.

Giant Breakast

In October, we had a giant breakast at Ol' South.  It was very yummy, and we left absolutely stuffed.  Andreas was craving biscuits and gravy.  I decided on steak and eggs instead of my regular omelette or dutch babies.
