Coasters

These are for my former boss.  I think they'll go pretty well in his home.

Afghan For A Child

I made my first mandala afghan, Sophie's Garden, for the daughter of friends of mine.  She likes bright colors!  I think it came out pretty well, but it does still need to be blocked.  No where to do that here safely, so it will wait until I get to Fort Worth.  Once it's blocked, it'll get mailed to Vienna.

I have started a mandala afghan for a very special little girl who lives in Vienna.

Cowliful

I made this colorful cowl for the trip to Vienna.  It's out of wool I bought in Frankfurt a few trips back.  I like the way it turned out.

I've begun an afghan for a friend.  I need to make 108 of these peacock feathers.

Another Baby Afghan

Completely stitched out of stash, this afghan was for a baby who was born back in September.  We didn't find out about it until October.  That's how things go in Angola, since the infant mortality rate is one in six.

Going Away Present

This afghan was made for friends who moved away a couple of weeks ago.  They'll be in Virginia for language training for several months and then going to Europe, where we may see them again.  While an afghan isn't particularly good for Angola, it'll certainly help out in Latvia.  The yarn is part of my stash from Uruguay.  I finally put it to use!

Green Afghan

This afghan is for friends who had a baby boy in the spring.  I hope he doesn't outgrow it before autumn.

I Make Baby Blankets

Another pregnant friend, another baby blanket.  The pattern for this one was picked out by the expectant mum.  On Ravelry, it's called Tiramisu.

Novel Purselet

Riquita, one of the ladies at work, gave me this little purse.  Its center is made from poptop lids!  It's a really neat design, and I'll find a use for it.  Her great aunt's friend makes them.  I think it's pretty neat, and it fits a whole baseball.

Very Pink

I had all the leftover pink yarn from a previous baby blanket, so I made a shawl.  It'll be given away.

It's A Doily

Found this pattern on Pinterest and made it in a few evenings between other things.  It needs to be sized, but it looks cute anyway.

A New Baby Aghan

This afghan is going to the Caldwells for their new baby due this month.  I'm mailing it to Chisinau at their request, as it will be one less thing in the suitcase on the way home from medevac.  I think it came out pretty well.  It's a V-stitch granny pattern.

Pretty Sights Around Odessa

While walking around Odessa we took photos of some things that interested me.  The city hall is beautiful in the sunlight, and this restaurant's terrace barriers are very decorative.  At the bottom are some gorgeous hand crocheted Irish lace clothing items.  In person, they are breathtaking.  They were also for sale - for a very reasonable price.

One more baby afghan made.  I have two more to make, at least, before leaving Moldova.  This one's for Stephanie, who's expecting a girl next month.

We got lost and found a stitch shop in Budapest.  So.... i had to buy something, right?  Two Hungarian crochet magazines, a quilting ornament kit, and a Japanese embroidery magazine.  Score!

But We're Moving To Angola...

I bought the yarn and started this scarf while we were in Krakow - I needed something to do while on the bus to Auschwitz.  This was about three weeks before we found out we were moving to Angola next summer.  So, what to do?  Finish?  Or give up?  I decided to finish it and will gift it to someone.  I'd wear it, but we're moving to Angola...

New Cowl

This very simple cowl is from some of my Uruguayan wool yarn.  I started it last winter and finished it up in a day last week.  Now to get cold enough to wear it...
