Whitework?

This is my version of Theresa Wentzler's freebie "Beginner Whitework Ornament".  I started it for the crazy January challenge, barely getting the center done.  I've been working on it otherwise for my three ornament challenge for Friendly Stitchers.  My question is ... is it still whitework if it's not white?

Fallen Flowers

During our two days in Shreveport, we went out to the American Rose Center.  It's on the outskirts of Shreveport and is a place run by the American Rose Society, and their headquarters.  The gardens have fallen pretty deeply into disrepair.  The roses in my yard look better and more bountiful.  Here are some of the pictures we took there.  There will be more in the next few days.

Nothing On The Bird

This week, all the stitching was on the tree limb side.  There was a lot of definite progress, but since it all looks kind of the same, the only way to tell is that the blob got larger.

Dinner At Superior Mexican

After watching the baseball game, we spent the night in the car and took a very early flight from Boston to DFW, where we had lunch with my mom (yum! Spring Creek Barbecue!) and then dinner with Andreas' parents in Shreveport at Superior Mexican Grill.  It was the first real Mexican food we'd had in our trip.  I had enchiladas (the top picture) and they were soooo good.  Wasn't able to eat everything, though.  Andreas' parents split these tostadas, and Andreas had his usual taco salad.  All of it was excellent.
Part of being back every year is to get the food you just can't find where you live.

So Close

I am so very close to finally finishing off this part of the sampler.  It's huge!  Someone asked me for the colors again.  The green is Olivine and the multi is Tuscany, both in Florimell by Gloriana.  The fabric is 40 count Newcastle linen by Needleworker's Delight in color Golden Honey.  I'll have to look up the exact colors of the purple and the variegated red because I don't have my project bag in front of me at the moment.

Dinner By Fenway

For some unknown reason, there are a few baseball themed sports bars within a couple of blocks of Fenway Park.  We had dinner at one of them on our way to see the Red Sox vs Mariners game on May 14th.  The food was pretty good.  Sean had fish and chips; Andreas had a greek salad and a grilled cheese sandwich, and I had a barbecued chicken sandwich that was waaay too big for me to finish.  For a sports bar, it wasn't bad.  It was expensive, though, as all of Boston is.

Still Small Stuff

Got one color of  the roof of the center building done.  That's about all that's visible, though.
