Outside The Fortress

After visiting the cemetery, we went to Tighina fortress itself.  Getting to it was - interesting - as it's on a Russian military base.  You also have to drive through an old munitions factory to get there.  The pictures here are in the directions away from the factory.  They show why this place was fought over for a century - it dominates the surrounding landscape and hugs the river.

Challenge Coins

If you're military, you know about challenge coins.  This is the new one for our Marine Security Detachment here in Chisinau.  It's heavy, and I'd been carrying it in the bottom of my purse (wrapped) for a couple of months....

Planting

I've got the dandelion plant almost done.  Edging closer to getting this finished, but I don't have the driving urge to work on this until it's finished yet.

At The Edge

A few of the rows are now to the edge of the large, peach colored house.  Still many more to go, but it does imply real progress.  There is one other, much smaller, house left to do on the right.

More Mass Graves

I find it interesting that they were able to identify all the remains from the two centuries old siege.  The tall building is a small church in part of the graveyard.

Flowering Out

This is the blackwork project for this month's CyberStitchers meeting again.  As you can see, lots of progress.  It's a fast stitch.  I'll have it done in time.

Cool Old Motorcycle

This was parked in Bender outside the cemetery.  I have no idea of the brand, but it's definitely old and awesome and well used.
