Back To The Poppy

I am back to working on the Californian Poppy.  It's been languishing on the crazy January list for a couple of years and I'd finished something else.  I'm not pleased with the lack of coverage of the threads so far, but I'll see how the non-border parts look soon.

Complete Sampler

I finished the Twined Heart Sampler from Shepherd's Bush.  The piece was a bit more difficult because the kit I received had some threads missing - I had bought it off someone else, and that person had evidently opened it.  Other than that, I coped and I think it came out pretty well.  Andreas says this one can find a different home if I want.

Browning Out More

Well, there's definitely progress.  The brown-patterned feathers on the peacock are almost all done and there's some background going on with it, too.

Back To Torro

We ditched a party to get some real food at Torro Grill last month.  The party was... weird.  Anyway, Kerry came with us.  She and I both had the chateaubriand, which was excellent and huge.  We also had a platter of pickles and one of meat.  The pickles on the plate include some things you normally don't see done outside of eastern Europe.  Kerry had a beautiful caprese salad and Andreas had his usual Greek and a burger.  It was a better way to spend that time than the party, though we heard  the party got better an hour or so after we left.

Plugging Away

I have a lot to do on both the middle buildings I'm working on.  One needs more cross stitches, and the other backstitches.  Getting them done, though.

More Chinese

Since Chinese food was the main reason for Andreas to go to Romania, we had it for lunch once again before we left.  There's a sit down restaurant in Palas Mall, so we went there.  The food was much better presented, and the atmosphere was better than the food court.  There was also more variety to choose from.  Other than that, the quality was about the same.  I had a lemonade, beef egg drop soup, and lemon chicken.  Andreas had fried rice and some kind of chicken dish.  As you can see, the portions were very generous.  It was a good last meal in Iasi, even though we bought subs from Subway to take home with us.

A Bit Of A Grumble

So, another kit manufacturer who skimps on some bit of material.  I have run out of the charcoal gray blending filament.  Liz Turner Diehl's kit definitely didn't have enough.  I've gotten maybe two thirds of the way done with this color, and yet I've run out.  Unfortunately, the kit was bought twenty years ago, so I can't complain directly to her.  On the other hand, I was able to order some more from 123 Stitch.  Now I have to wait for my (poor) mail delivery to get it to me .... in a month or so.
