Cold Morning In Odessa

Our February visit to Ukraine was cold, but not as cold as February can be.  It was also a sunny, if windy, day without precipitation.  These top photos were taken by the Potemkin steps.  The duke's statue has been made into a memorial of locals who have been killed in the current war.  The bottom three photos are of the galleria at the end of Deribascaia Street.

All The Way Across

I have managed to get all the way across on the top band as I start my quest to work from top to bottom.  Now to fill in this band.

Striping

I've now added some orange stripes to the huge butterfly.  I also am almost to the bottom of the piece in a few places.  Almost halfway done!

Gift Box

Andreas received this beautiful box from the Rogerses for looking after their cat while they were on a skiing trip.  It's very beautifully carved and looks great for putting small trinkets in.

Dark Blue

I'm almost to the far edge of the design, yay.  This has been taken up as one of those small projects I want to knock out before I go.

Here Comes The Sun

The sun motif bleeds from the first to the second part.  I'm using a variegated yellow instead of two solid colors.  I think it looks better this way.

Breakfast At Palais Royal Hotel

Breakfast was included with our room, and it was good.  I had tea and Andreas had hot chocolate and we each picked one of six breakfast options.  Mine included porridge and French toast.  My raspberry jam was excellent with the toast, though I ended up eating it with my hands.  The porridge was good, too.  Andreas had an omelette and regular toast.  Our food was fresh, hot, and cheerfully served.
