Time To Make Purses

We went kind of crazy buying leather and fur at the stockyards.  It was all scrap stuff; some of it's very nice.  The idea is to make some purses.  When I get the leather shears and the right needles.

Bits Of Border

I've started a new Lizzie Kate, Normal is just a setting on the washer, and it's all border at this point.  I think the saying fits the foreign service life.

French Wines In Texas

It seems every time we visit Texas we do some kind of wine tasting with Mom.  This time it was at Grand Cru, a wine bar in Fort Worth.  There was a full presentation by a wine rep and food to match.  While I appreciated the escargot and the beef burgignon, I was not impressed by the wines.  It may be that I lived in Moldova too long, but the wines seemed overpriced and underperforming.  Even the ones costing over a hundred dollars didn't do much for me.  The meal, by the way, was advertised as truly French.  The only part they nailed on that was the beef.  Overall, disappointing.

Birthday Present

While they were visiting us in Fort Worth, Andreas' parents gave me a birthday present.  It's a bunch of sewing and embroidery supplies, and Betsy, his mom, made the needle case and ort basket herself.  Thank you very much!  I now need to get some way to set things up and start making stuff.

Bits More Frame

Last session, I ended up working a bit on the inner stained glass frame.  It's beginning to come together some.

More Esperanza

Back to September food.  I already miss Esperanza's.  I don't have any of my own cooking items, so I can't really make Mexican to compensate.  Guess I'll mope on a rainy day as I look upon delicious food I ate in the past and can't find anything near here.

Our New Home - The Bad View

As I write this, the view looks even worse due to a major downpour.  The roofs below are several shantytowns around downtown.  You can see the construction site, too, and the serpentine - a road that winds back on itself a couple of times despite the very small grade.
