Skinny Cows

This is what skinny cows look like.  Don't be fooled by the ice cream brand.  Angola used to be a bigger exporter of beef than South Africa or Namibia.  Now, it can't even supply itself.  The trash along the side of the road is just another sign of hopelessness and a lack of caring for personal environment.  No idea what the Hello Kitty means.

Abandoned

Much of the city and countryside of Angola is just plain abandoned.  Buildings started - some even finished - without occupants and without further work.  It's sad.  Bela Vista is a Chinese residential complex that's almost completely built, but no one lives there.  For some reason, though, it's lit up like a Christmas tree and has concrete swans in the front.  The whole economy here was built on a house of cards, and the cards tumbled off the table.

Felted Card

I picked up this card in Kendal.  It's got a beaded piece of handmade felt in it.  Wrote a note and sent it off to my mom.

Star-ting

There are definitely star shapes on both sides now, and the vertical star side is nearing completion.  Yay!

Below The Line

I am officially below the line and over halfway done with the outer part now.  Yay!

So Much Confetti

The two things you can count on with Teresa Wentzler are confetti stitches and blended thread.  I am stuck in an area with a lot of both at the moment.

Baobabs, Beaches, And Buses

Even Angola has baobab trees.  It also has some beaches that are unsuitable for relaxing on, and, as you get closer to the city, a lot of buses.  As we get closer to the city, you can just make it out across the bay.
