Impoverished Fridge, Good View

When we checked in to the AC Hotel in Manchester, they told us we'd been upgraded.  We thought "oh, nice!" They told us the fridge had been stocked.  This is a photo of the stocked fridge.  We were there for one night only, and we did have a nice view of Old Trafford and the Salford Quays.

Marine Ball Set Up

I took these photos just before it was time for people to come to the Marine Ball.  They're the only photos I can share at the moment because the official photos are being held hostage by a couple of people who want no photos of them in the official photos ... yet have been to many Marine Balls and know there's always a photographer.

Big Red Door

This is the VIP entrance to the memorial.  We went through it by mistake.  The entrance for regular visitors is off to the side of the building and much harder to find!

Graphic Art

These plaques go with yesterday's poem.  They're very much Soviet in style and seem to be designed  to send messages to even the most illiterate people.

Poem In Portuguese

This is supposedly an inspirational poem in Portuguese about Angola written my Agostinho Neto's wife.  I didn't find it that way, but whatever.

To The Pergola

For some reason, this sculpture strikes me as kind of creepy.  Anyway, I do like how they incorporated the flagpole.  The pergola tells the "story" of Angola.

Back To Sauron's Tower

These are photos from our trip in November, but from Andreas' set that hadn't been processed.  I still think the Neto Memorial looks evil.  The puppy at the bottom was cute, though.

Here Comes The Train

We had to wait for the train to go round, so here it is coming out of the tunnel.

Still Scary

All lit up at night, the tall swings still look very scary.  The view must be great, though, if you're not dizzy with vertigo.

Squirrel!

Andreas found this squirrel in a tree at the Edinburgh Christmas Market.  It was happy to have its photo taken.

Beautiful Building

It's not the Scottish National Library, but it's almost next to it.  Lit up for the evening, it looks lovely.

Christmas Maze And Train

The Edinburgh Christmas Market has a children's game area.  It includes this lit up maze and a train.  Looks pretty at night, for sure.

Swings In The Sky

The swings went high into the sky and sometimes stopped.  I would not want to be in one of them!  It was pretty from a distance, though.

Bridge To The Park
