Return To Railhead

One of the best things about going home is being able to eat the foods you're fond of without having to cook them yourself! Railhead dinner, top was Andreas, bottom me. I miss cole slaw when i'm gone. Not even KFC makes it here.

First Breakfast In Texas

Once we recovered some from our flight and drive from Kosovo, we went to Ol' South for breakfast on Halloween. We were transported to being at home right then. I had a dutch baby and bacon. Andreas had sausage and gravy and hash browns and eggs.

Now To Subscribe

I picked up this issue of Needlepoint Now because it has an ornament I want to make in it. Maybe I'll subscribe since I'm not a member of EGA or ANG anymore.

Before And After

We went back to the French Knot. Andreas got more grab bags for me - fifteen or so more. The first photo is of them before opening. The second is after. As you can see, definitely worth more than $5 per bag!

Needlepoint Stash

We went to The French Knot here in Fort Worth. Andreas discovered the thread grab bags. He bought five. They're a good deal, full of silk and linen threads.

What's In Your Freezer?

We are on home leave and this is what's in our freezer. The plastic bag is full of French butter to bring home.

More Renfair Meal

As you can see from the photos, we didn't lack for food.  I put less on my plate than most, and couldn't eat it all.  The food was fresh, hot, and tasty.  Almost everyone sniggered at the spotted dick, though, especially after the intro song to it...

Renfair Entertainment

These two short videos will give you an idea of the type of entertainment we had at lunch.  The skits about the next courses were cute.

Renfair Meal

So, um, did I tell you I hadn't downloaded my phone pics for a while?  Turns out here are some more from home leave.  On our last weekend in the US, we went to Houston for the airshow and the Texas Renaissance Festival.  We bought special tickets for the renfair - ones that included lunch and entertainment in a special pavilion.  Turns out it was a very wise move!  There was a huge downpour Sunday morning, the day we went, and it was still raining when we went in for lunch.  Lunch was delicious and the entertainment was spectacular.  By the time we got out, it even had stopped raining and the sun was shining.

I guess it's time to start my own lego collection, since Andreas has one....

Last Meal In US

We ate breakfast at Ol' South before heading to the airport to drop off the car and go to Kosovo.  Mom was with us, and, of course, we had to have some favorites.  Andreas got a Belgian waffle and I had a Dutch baby and an omelette.  It was a good way to finish off  the trip.

Primed For Perry's

While we were in Houston, we decided we needed a very nice meal before going off to Kosovo.  So we went to Perry's Steakhouse in Champions Forest.  It was wonderful.  We had full meals and every bit was excellent.  I would go back in a heartbeat.

One Last Spring Creek

One last visit to Spring Creek before leaving Texas.  We were on our way back from renewing our car rental for the last couple of days.

Something Different

The lunch menu at Joe T. Garcia's is a bit more varied than the dinner one.  I had a ranchera steak.  Andreas had a tostada and nachos.  All was good.

Nails For The Road

Got some pretty nails done for the trip to Kosovo!
