An Ornamental Finish

I finished this last week, and it counts as my Ornament-of-the-Month for both Cyberstitchers and Friendly Stitchers!  Yes, I started it back in October, but I finished it this month, so it counts for this month.  I like the way the stitching turned out, but I'm not very drawn to these colors.  Perhaps at another time I'll do this again in black, white and gray.

Another Band Done

I got the second set of bands done on Mojave.  It's going pretty quickly because I'm using it as my take-out-when-you're-sitting-talking project.  I'm not wild about the colors, but the way the stitches are put together is neat.

Stacking Stitches

I've been working the lines on both sides. There's a bit more to go on them, but they're almost done. Every layer goes upward, it seems.

Sidelines

Four wheelies and X's all down the sides. It looks like progress to me.

Middle's Done

I finished the middle stripe finally. About a third of the total pages for the whole ornament were about this stripe. Now I get to go on to the other two-thirds of the instructions.

Diamonds Down the Middle

I completed the diamonds in the middle and their Jessica stitches this week. There's a bit more to do in this middle area, but it's already standing out pretty well.

Still Circling Around

Well, this is the most tedious part of the ornament, from experience. I'm 2/3 of the way done with the outer rim, at least.

A Third Dodecagon

This week, I started my third dodecagon ornament - Mojave. It's different from the other two I've done already - the smyrnas around the side are two colored instead of one.

Camelot's Done

I finished this more quickly than I thought because the last six pages were all one stitch. I did it while I was waiting for my hair color to set. The stitch is a Hilton double fan double and it's the middle one. I still want to redo this in blue, but I think it came out pretty well in the pink. Two of the dodecagon ornaments are now done, but instead of starting a third, I digressed to the Bargello Bag. I'll get back to the ornaments soon.

Scotch Done!

This week, I finished off all the rest of the scotch stitches. All but the middle and the little corners on the outside are filled in. Yet there are ten more pages of directions...

One More Row

One more row is done on this, in each of the four quadrants. The small areas are going to have another kind of stitch in them, though the color blending continues toward the center. I'm going to be working on this today. Yay.

Blending It

I did quite a few scotch stiches this week, all the same color too. They were the middle color of the five pinks. Although I'm only just over a third of the way through the thirty pages of instructions, I -think- I'm over halfway through the actual stitches. It looks more than half covered to me, at least. We'll see.

Pinking It Up

I made more progress on Camelot this week. It was all Scotch stitches, working on the shading in the four outer areas. I'm getting to the point where I can declare this halfway done, I think.
I'll do another Bulgarian post on Tuesday and a couple of Kosovo ones later in the week.

Scotching It

This past week, I worked on Camelot some again. It's been all scotch stitch. I'm thinking of doing this pattern again, but in blues. I really like the diamond design in it.

All Glitzed Up

I think I have most of the glitz on this done now. I like the way it looks, the diamond. It might make a nice small photo frame.

Four Times

I've added almost all the bling to Camelot. Most of it was done while I was traveling to Kosovo. Five hour layovers allow you to do needlepoint! I did get some strange looks in the Air France first class lounge in Paris - first for being one of very few women, and then second for the needlepoint. I ignored them. It's a nice, if cold, day out here. The sun's out and it's warming up well. Maybe we'll have a good weekend and can go out exploring!

Bling Around

Still working on getting the bling all the way around the four sides. I'm almost done with it, and working on it's giving me design ideas. It's on the plane with me, and hopefully I'll get some done sitting in airports in Paris and Vienna.

A Quarter of Bling

The instructions said to work this quarter in this way and didn't mention the other three. That is, until the step that comes next and assumes that you did all four. So I need to go back and do the other three this week and then go on to other things. I think the ribbon effect is kind of neat.
I'm kind of disappointed in myself because I only finished two things in February after the great start of nine in January. This morning, though, I got my first March finish done. Blog entry and pictures later.
