Battle of Cannae Site

Cannae is where Hannibal beat the Romans in the second century BC. It was burned into the Roman psyche and was the motivator of salting Carthage. The site is approximately an hour's drive outside Bari, where we caught the ferry back to Albania. So - we stopped to see it.
Getting through to it is a bit of a maze due to all the orchards and vineyards in the area, but it's worth it.

Impressive Entrance

This is the front view of the Athens Archaeological Museum. Big and imposing.

Red Panda by Riolis: Make Stuff May #30

I got this kit and several others from a Lithuanian company that wanted to dump all its Russian stock after the start of the war. They donated all the proceeds to Ukraine. So I get to stitch AND support a good cause.

Leaf Biscornu by Durene Jones: Make Stuff May #29

This little biscornu should be a quick stitch.

May Black Needle Society

It was a mythical beasts theme. Andreas wants me to make the dragon.

Back On A Ferry

The ferry trip home was not nearly as good as the trip to Italy. We had booked a presidential suite again, but the ferry company switched to a smaller ship and there was none. So we had a regular room to ourselves. People actually share these rooms with strangers. Ick!
Food below. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. You have been warned!

Sad Little Plates

This was from our trip home. The appetizer especially looks sad. All of it did, really.
