Churching In Iasi

Some photos from the street of Iasi's orthodox cathedral.  Last of Iasi for a while.  We went somewhere else in Romania this last trip!

Summer At Torro

In early June Andreas's colleague from Athens came on a professional visit and was complaining about not being able to find a good steak there.  We took him to Torro Grill so he could get some here.  The food was as good as usual and we tried a few new things - like this spectacular lemonade.  It was just the right combination of tart and sweet.

We also had the meat tray appetizer and some bread.

I love this pear and blue cheese salad.  It's a chance to get some, since Andreas doesn't like it and I can't make small at home.  We also had a pickle plate.

Andreas's ever present Greek salad.
And on the terrace below us there was a table set up for a family celebration.  It was gorgeous, so Andreas leaned down and took pictures of it, too.  This is a fruit plate.  Below is the table as a whole and then a few more shots of individual dishes.

Both Greg and I had chateaubriand, which was hugr and excellent, and Andreas had his hamburger.

Bunch Of Windows

There was a lot of gray added to this building this time.  Lots of windows to fill in.  I've started on the tower in the middle too, so at least I feel like I'm getting ahead.

Afghan for Liudmila

I finished this afghan with a Phildar cotton for Liudmila.  Her baby's due in November.  Right now, only one more afghan to finish!

Cherries On A Hook

On our way home from Soroca on Memorial Day, we stopped for some cherries.  I had never seen cherries displayed this way.  Little clusters are hung on coat hanger wire, sometimes tied on.  Cherry season was really early here this year, and our tree didn't produce well.  On the other hand, I got some good cherries and froze some of them for this winter!  The frozen ones also make great ice substitutes.

Across The Street

Across the main street from Iasi's cultural palace is a walking street with most municipal buildings fronting it and a few churches backing it.  We had not explored this in previous visits, so we did when we went in March.  Luckily it was a warm, sunny day.

Be Vined

I have one more part of the scene done.  The vines are on the trellis.  Now they need to get covered with roses.  After that, there's more greenery to add.
