One Quick Temari

Another temari for charity.  This one was just pretty quick to make and looks pretty good in variegated thread.

On The Back Wing

It's truly beginning to look like a dragon now.  The back wing is about done and the front is taking shape.

Apes And Ruminants

Andreas finally got around to processing some photos from our trip to the US in 2012.  These are of the Fort Worth Zoo.  I hate apes, so thankfully there are only three photos.  Well, plus the man.

Been A While

Pani Pit has changed its menu.  We hadn't been for a while and found out in the middle of the month.  I'm disappointed because they took off the two main courses I loved.  The food is still very high quality; they didn't add anything, either.  They just pared.  I don't know what the criteria for paring were, but I miss my favorites.  Andreas had a Greek salad and I had zeama.  As our main courses, Andreas had chicken rolls and I had a steak with berry sauce.  For dessert, several of us split this poached pear, which tasted wonderful.  We were just too stuffed not to split it.

Light On Light

I have more of the middle bit done.  It's hard to see some of it because it's light against a light fabric.

More Of The Same

More sheep and more shepherd.  Working my way down this band steadily.

Been To Beer House

Someone wanted to try Beer House, and we hadn't been there in over a year... so we went at the beginning of April.  We had a large group and it was a good time.  The food was full of large portions and tasted pretty Moldovan.  The beer was their own, though, and the wine flowed freely too.

Looking Like Buildings

I've got bits and pieces of buildings that look like buildings.  How quaint.

Double Edged

It should be quadruple edged, but this edging is with metallic braid and is pretty fiddly.  At least two are done!

Not Quite

This simple star design ran into a problem on the blue.  It's not good enough for the auction for charity, but Andreas still wants it.  He now has a new temari.

Springing Up

More little flowers done and several more rows of dome completed.  There are big blocks of color coming up on the dome; they should stitch up quickly.

Temari For Hayward

One of the stalwarts of the embassy community, Hayward, left for his next posting earlier this month.  Before he left, I gave him this temari to use as a reminder that we miss him and as a stress ball.  We do miss him already.

Got Some Fencing

Bits of fencing, bits of birds, bits of green, and bits of strawberry.  Sounds like some work got done.

Yet Another Torro Evening

We have been going to Torro Grill a -lot- recently - too often in my estimation.  It's because other people have been wanting to go and it's been an easy choice. Anyway.... soup and steak for me and Greek salad and a hamburger.

Half An Ornament

The ornament on the left is halfway done.

Little Bits

Little bits of roof and window added, along with some tree.

Still On The Border

Next time I work on this, I get to do something other than the border.  Yay!

Towering

This part is going sooo slowly because it's over one.  At least it's about the last bit of the piece.  Will still take me a few weeks to get it done.

Bargelloed

I've gotten all the bargello done on the outer parts.  It's time to add more smyrna crosses.

Startng Little Flowers

I've got some cute little Jessica stitch flowers on the upper left corner now.  On top of that, I'm definitely doming it.

Staggered Temari

I am making a series of red, white and blue temari to donate to a charity auction.  This is one of them - a staggered kiku of a total of sixteen points.  I think it came out pretty well.

Silly And Beautiful

Who wouldn't want a beautiful bamboo cutting board with the periodic table burned into it?  I love it, and we'll use it as a cheese board so it doesn't get damaged.

On The Back Wing

The back wing looks just about done.  This is going so quickly!

On To Next Pages

Practically every color now bleeds down into the next lower pages.  That means I'm about a quarter done with the piece.  I still really love the look of it.

New Book

I love this language book series.  It's hard being dumped into a foreign country without a lick of language and then learning it on the fly.  This series (the book is the intermediate version) teaches Romanian to foreign business people.  Not even the beginner book has a single non-Romanian word in it.  This makes it suitable for teaching Romanian to people from any language.  The format is bright and colorful, and the CDs have a lot of audio content.  In the beginning book, I've covered several tenses of verbs and lots of things - like how to interact at stores and hotels and how to follow the gym instructor when exercising.  On top of everything else, it's fun.  It's also much, much better than any other Romanian as a foreign language book I've seen.
