C1080 Part 1 - February 28th, 2010 - Carnaval

C1080 is a lubolo group that made it to the second round of Carnaval, when we saw them.  Their whole performance was built around a movie studio lot, and it worked very well.  Everything was integrated and the program flowed very well, even for us non-Spanish speakers.  Here are some of the pictures from it.  There are so many to show I've separated it into two posts.
This was the lubolo group I enjoyed the most, even if they didn't end up winning.

A Done Heart

I finished Asya's heart this week and it's already on its way to Germany to be put into a quilt.  I've already got a new one to start, but I need to finish a couple of other pressing things before beginning it.

Feelings, Again - Carnaval - February 28th, 2010

By tricks of our schedule and Teatro Verano's, we saw Feelings, a revista (dance revue) group, more than any other group.  Here's a set of photos from their February 28th performance.

Yarn or Ribbon?

There is a little yarn shop about a block from the Manos del Uruguay outlet shop, and we stopped in there last week.  I found this vicose yarn in this pretty pink color.  I think I'm going to use it to make ribbon roses!  The drape will let them be fluid and blowsy, I hope.

A Minor Milestone

I have finally finished all the cross stitches on part four (of twelve).  Now I get to do the fun specialty stitches!  I feel like I've reached a milestone, since I've been working on this for quite a while.  I get to start working on something new.

Tango at Carnaval

During the last round of Carnaval, there was no act the first hour.  Why delay it instead of having it end closer to a decent hour?  This is Uruguay - no one would come that early.  Anyway, during the first hour, they had a small tango when we were there.  Unfortunately, either because they weren't used to the shape of the stage in front of the curtains or because they just weren't good, it wasn't a good show.  We did get a couple of nice pictures, though.  There is a tango section of Carnaval competition, but it's not held at Teatro de Verano and not well publicized.

Starting the Center

I finally started the center square of See the Stars this week.  It was released in January, so as usual, I'm behind.  On the other hand, this square is going fairly quickly.
