La Placinte for Three

Sean's first meal in country, despite being a day late getting in, was at La Placinte.  Might as well introduce him to Moldovan food right away.  The stuff in the large pitcher is kompot, a drink made of fruit, and in the small is locally made wine.  Sean had mici, a kind of local ground meat sausage.  I had chicken crepes which were rather bland and also low on chicken.  Lots of bechemel sauce, though!  Andreas had the big platter with mamaligia and lots of pork.  He also had a Greek salad.

Food at La Placinte is plentiful and cheap, even if not spectacularly seasoned.

Fourth Quarter

Yay! I've finally started the fourth quarter!  Maybe I'll have it done by the end of the year.

Seasonal Dining

Seasons Brasserie in MallDova is consistently good, both in food and service.  We had the bruschetta, which has four different kinds and makes a good appetizer for the whole table.  My usual zeama was next for me, with a beef salad.  The beef could have been better, but all the other ingredients were fresh and wonderful.  Andreas tried the lamb chops.  He said they tasted pretty good but were small.

Working On The Bottom

A couple of colors are completely cross stitched.  The rest made progress.  I'm nearing done with the cross stitches....

A New Greek Restaurant

We went to El Greco downtown for the first time in July.  The food is very freshly prepared and the zeama is wonderful!  It's got just the right balance of chicken and sour.  The tzaziki is thick and perfect, and the rest of the food lived up to all that too.  We will definitely be going back!

Another Section Started

I've got the last section finished and am starting in on the left again....

On The Outside

We left and took pictures of the outside of the fortress at Soroca, too. You can see how close it is to the (still navigable) river.
