The Road Back

A couple of photos of the beautiful mountains between Sinaia and Brasov, taken on the way back from Sinaia.  They're breathtaking in person.

On To The Big House

We ended up going on the Romanian language guided tour of the big castle because it was going to be another hour until the next English language one.  And it was raining.  We had a group of Orthodox priests in the (large) pile of people, and they were surprised by our desire to go with the Romanian stuff.  In the end it didn't matter because we couldn't even hear the guide because there were 60 people in the group.  We learned more listening to the monks talk to each other.  Any way.... outside then inside Peles Castle, big version.  Nothing looking comfortable here!

Out Of Thread

I am how out of the Neon Rays provided in the kit for the Fort Worth.  This means I have to wait to complete that part until I get my order in from Nordic Needle, probably a month from now - despite ordering two weeks ago.  One of  the joys of living overseas.

Random Sinaia Photos

These pictures were taken just outside Peles Castle in Sinaia, the town where it's situated.  Sinaia has a pretty monastery and is evidently known as a place for gambling in Romania.  Anyway, the top photo is inside the monastery; the second is of a pretty vacation house; and the third is of the monastery bell tower.

On To Dine

I do like the frame of this mirror, but I want to know why a ""family residence" needs a dining table for forty.

Almost To The Edge

Just a bit more sky and I will be to the far edge of this piece.

Eating At Peles

One of the gatehouses of the palace has been turned into a restaurant concession.  It's called Turm (Tower), and it's very overpriced and under expectations.  We had these four items plus water.  It cost us far more than any other meal in Romania.  The gulash was watery.  The meat plate was passable.  The salad - well, there -were- fresh raspberries for sale just outside the restaurant door, but the cook decided to use frozen ones - that weren't even nearly thawed.  Yuck!  Really?  Andreas' penne arrabiata was okay, but it wasn't very spicy.  Overall a very disappointing lunch.  If there was somewhere else to eat there, we would have.
