Air Force Base

The first few photos are of the wall of the air force base next to the airport, then comes the entrance to the airport.  I consider this area the entrance to the city proper.  From this point on, you're pretty much downtown.

Views By Scottish Military Museum

You can tell the proximity to the military museum by the statue.  I love the gate, and the wrought iron is pretty.

Another Week, Another Window

Another square done!  This was a simple waffle stitch, so I whipped right through it.  Next up is a padded waffle stitch.  Might take a bit longer.

Behind The Wall

We are no longer in a good neighborhood.  Beyond the wall, you can see the shanty town.  It goes on and on.  These areas ring and infiltrate every "better" neighborhood.  There are at least three of these areas within a short walk of my house.  The building is illegal, of course, but nothing is enforced.  There are no water services.  Electricity is pirated or from generators.  It's a miserable way to live.
The government built a playground for the area.  You can see it in the bottom photos.  Concrete on concrete with no shade.  No wonder no one is using it.

Chilly Climb

The weather was cold, but not freezing, in Edinburgh.  And there was no snow, but there was an occasional drizzle.  We managed to stay fairly warm as we wandered about,  These photos are of views in the castle and from the walls as we went up the first wind toward the military history museum.

I really liked the tree.  It just looked proud but naked.  And we found flowers in December on one of the rocky scarps.

Working On Wings Again

The wings are getting a bit bigger and full.

Little Blue And White Buses

These little buses are road hazards.  They randomly pick up and drop off people all over the city, and they cause more accidents than any other vehicles.  For many people, it's the only mode of transportation that exists.
