Teatro Verano - Tronar de Tambores

The Teatro Verano is host, during all of Carnaval, to the official performance competitions.  We went to see some on Thursday and again last night.  All these pictures are from Thursday, and there are four acts.

First group up was a lubolos group.  That meant drums and a full hour on stage.
Here's a good-ish picture of the drummers behind the central figure of the story.  If the constumes look familiar, this group marched in the parade I did pictures of last week.
Political correctness hasn't found its way to Uruguay's Carnaval.  All through the parade and in some of the performances we saw these Mammy and Pappy couples dancing.  They just seem to mill around.

This is a picture of the female dancer from a really badly danced sex scene in this group.  She wasn't the problem - it was the guy.  He was old, had to suck in his gut, and had the emotional range of a stick of wood.  Anyway, the photo's pretty.

Lots of jiggle wiggle dancing on the stage.  It seems to be the one step all Uruguayan women know how to do.  It was also the only step exhibited by the women of  this group.  Well, they exhibited a lot of their bodies, too.

More jiggle wiggle and lots of feathers.

More of the panoply.

Still Striping

Only one more color to go on the second stripe.  I got the turquoise finished this week and worked more on the rectangle underneath.  I think that one's looking pretty neat, myself, even though the colors aren't what I would normally like.

I Think I Can...

Still on the fourth egg, but a lot of progress on it.  I also completed the stitching on the bottom leg of the last line around.  Once I'm done with these cross stitches, its on to the specialty stitches in the lines and under them.

Reddened

More red added to the overall picture this week; it's a lot of background, but then next time I'll be able to do more of the critter.

Second Side, First House

Yes, it's a small one, but it's done.  I still feel good about the progress I'm making on this.

Paint It Brown

More brown this week - on the flounce on the right and the very light brown on the middle.  The ribbon on the right also got a bit longer.

A Long Scope

There were five squares in this part of the mandala, so it's taking me a long time to complete it.  I think this is the longest, so far, I've taken on any part of the stitchalongs with Marquoir.  Even though this picture was taken last Saturday, I am still working on it today.  Granted, I've made a lot of progress, but still.  I hope to have this part finished by the time pictures are taken Friday night or Saturday.
