Received In Exchange

I entered the Dice Tower secret Santa exchange back in October, and received this when we got home from Munich.  We actually played it last night and lost - it's a cooperative game, so everyone wins or loses together.  Maybe having a few more people playing will help!  Anyway, it's fun and actually a pretty good teaching tool, too, for people wanting to teach about epidemiology.  Thank you to my Secret Santa!  Oh, and I sent A Few Acres of Snow, another awesome game, to the guy I was assigned.  He also should have gotten a package of different Moldovan candies by now.

Significant Progress

I got quite a bit more done on my little gem.  It's at its final size now and almost done.

Lunch At Lowenbrau

When we got lost and found the Viktualenmarkt the first time, we decided on lunch.  There was a nice, warm-looking Lowenbrau tavern on the corner, so we went in.  I had this soup first, which was a clear beef broth with noodles in it.  Good and warm, but not much substance to it.  Unlike most soups of this type, it was not oversalted.

The mugs we'd collected that morning.  Truly, I didn't drink all of them!  Andreas had kinderpunsch in the large blue one.
Beer, juice and water to drink in cool glasses.  I then had a cold meat platter, which was huge and very good.  Andreas had the wurst platter.  He also found it too big to eat in one sitting.

Not Quite Bluebonnets

I suppose it's hard for a non-Texan to capture the color of bluebonnets, so I shouldn't have expected a Canadian to get the color right.  So far, it's my major disappointment with this kit from Victoria Sampler.  On the other hand, I'm making progress on everything.

Orchids From Elena

I like orchids.  I now have three plants.  This one was given to me by Elena, one of the local employees at the embassy.  Isn't it beautiful?  I now have three BLOOMING orchid plants in my house.  It's rather amazing, since I've never owned orchids before and had never researched much on how to take care of them.  They thrive, though, on my window ledge.  Thank you, Elena for the lovely gift.

Viktualenmarkt Carousel

Just a couple of pictures of the carousel at the Viktualenmarkt.

A Little Different

Surprisingly, I'd not done a staggered point kiku until I started this one last month.  I think it's turning out pretty.  Because of the number of points, I'm using size 12 pearl cotton.
