Enjoying The Terrace

On a warm May evening we went to Roata Vremii, one of our favorite outdoor places in the summer.  We had a large party of people and ordered all together.  So there were meat and cheese and veggie trays, grilled meat, placinte, and pickles!  The food was as wonderful as usual and it was a very social night.  It's time for Moldova to show its best, as it does every summer.

View Of The Nistru

After we visited Saharna we wandered along the river and found this area to picnic.  Across the river, with that big white monument, is Transnistria.  Our picnic went well, and on the way home we found this World War Two monument.  I'm not sure how or why they put the tank at the edge of a tongue of cement.  The monument is just outside the town of Rezina.

Finally Framed

This piece was part of my Crazy January 2011 challenge and I finished it while we still lived in Uruguay.  It's finally framed, thanks to Moldeco.  I think it looks great!

Another Swirl

I finished the major swirl at the front of the wing.  I think I am now going to work this piece from left to right to get it done.

Saharna Monastery

We went on a day trip to the northeast of Moldova on the first Saturday in May, taking a picnic and exploring.  We had with us someone with a broken leg, and had borrowed a wheelchair for her.  Things like this make you realize exactly how unfriendly Moldova is to handicapped people.  There aren't many photos of the monastery because it discourages them.  The place is beautiful and restful - and the day matched.  There are five areas of this monastery - the new monastery, the old one, the spring, the waterfall, and the footstep of Mary on the nearby ridge.  These first two photos are the new monastery.

This is the stone above the entrance to the old monastery.  People tuck prayers into the rock.  Below is inside the old part.

This is a piece of woods between the spring and the waterfall.

Milestone Accomplished!

It's only been three and a half years, but .... I managed to complete all 31 projects I started in Crazy January 2011.  This was the last one to get finished - Hannah's Hummingbird Knot Garden.  I am sooo happy!  I've got all these finished projects and a whole section wiped off my blog.  I hope to finish 2012 in the next year or so.  This was a huge milestone for me, and I feel a good sense of accomplishment.  As for this piece?  It's going to a friend who is leaving Moldova in the next few weeks.

Bit More Fur

There's definitely a bit more fur on top here.  I brought this with me on our trip to Soroca because it was one of the few things I could do on the less corrugated roads.
