A group from the embassy went to Albania and ate lunch at Mrizi i Zanave. The gimmick with this place is that everything is grown, harvested, and made on site. Our visit was before the spring vegetable season, so a lot of our stuff was harvested last autumn and preserved. There was a LOT of food. Most of it tasted good, but I did pass on the goat lung stuffed cornbread. Some of the more interesting items were the pumpkin sorbet, the lovely parma ham, and the lamb skewers. The first course was a lovely presentation of dried tomatoes, mayonnaise, and bread in a bird's nest.
