Bordering on a Finish

The last band before the outer border is almost complete - I just need to finish putting the Fyreworks on it. There's brick stitch and another star in the blank areas of the square. I like this piece a lot. It's given me a lot of practice with my laying tool. Considering this is the first year I've used a laying tool, I needed it! My husband will be making a box to put this on the top of. I think it'll look sharp, especially in something like a light poplar.

That is so gorgeous. I could not stitch something like that. It takes too many patience to get everything to lay properly. Anxious to see the finished product.

It really doesn't take much patience! Using a laying tool does it every stitch, and once you get used to it, the stitching goes quickly. This takes less time to do than regular cross stitch. On the other hand, because you're using a laying tool, you need to have something holding the piece for you. I use two clamps and attach it to my desk.

If you can borrow your husband's hardware, try it. You can even use a regular tapestry needle for a laying tool.
