Band Eight

Since this is due a week from Monday, I've been working on it almost exclusively lately - a hard thing for me to do! I finished the seventh band and then managed to do all of the eighth this week. The pattern called for gold where the blue is, but there's no gold anywhere else except the bottom, so I'm sticking with blue. Just started the ninth band, which shouldn't take too long. Maybe I can get it done today before I leave for seminar in the early morning tomorrow.

Hi Meg,
I have read your blog faithfully. I am a novice, and have only worked on 14 count Aida. I would like to move to linen, congress cloth, etc. Can I learn this myself, or should I consult a professional?

Your work is beautiful. I am envious.

Thank you.
Nancy

hi Nancy-

Thank you for reading! I can give you a few pointers. First, start with something small on linen. A kit's fine. Second, find some other stitchers who can help you. Your local EGA chapter if you have one is a great source. Or you can join the cyber chapter, Cyberstitchers. Don't be afraid to ask questions! The only question that's too dumb to answer is the one unasked. We'll support you. I started out at the same place you are.

Easiest place to start is on your next cross stitch project, instead of 14 count aida, get some 28 count linen and do it. You can have it the same size by stitching over two threads in each direction instead of one block.

Good luck, and if you need help, I'm willing.

Meg
