Scenes of Summer

Yes, I know it's winter up north, but this is how the end of my street looks this month...

A Small Project

This project only took a few days.  I got it out of an old issue of Needle Arts, and I think it came out pretty well.  The reason for the color variation is that I used an overdyed Weeks Dye Works floss.

Linear Progress

That long line slinking down tle left side is almost to the bottom of the second page.  Now to finish the last three rows on the first page.

Another Tabla del Campo

A few weeks ago, we had a tabla del campo in the local mall.  Here's how it arrived.  It's the Uruguayan equivalent of antipasto.

Backyard Bird

It seems a pair of hummingbirds has built a nest in one of our trees.  Andreas caught one of them fluttering about the back yard last week.

Beading for Peggy

This was the last block I was working on for the beaded round robin.  As you can see, there's not much room left, either.
So here is what I did: I made a bead flower and a fan out of beads and jewelry findings.  I also did one seam because that was all that was left.  She's got it now and likes it.  That's all I can ask.

Asian Block Home!

This top picture is how I sent the block out.  I asked for a more Arabian theme instead of the usual oriental.  They did well!  Thank you so much to Peggy, Rita, Candji, and Darlene!  You can see their work below, from a flying carpet to a magic lamp.

Stuck in the Middle

Still working on the middle building here, but there's definitely less of it left to do.

Waving Away

I am now off the jellyfish for the moment and working on the background.  It feels good to be doing something new with this!

Sometimes You Just Have to Wonder...

Made in China, sold in Uruguay, lost in translation.

Some More Heart

I am nearly done with this set of squares on the heart.  It looks good in these colors, don't you think?

BeFinched

Last week a finch flew into the house and decided to make itself comfortable in the rafters of the second story.  We managed to get it out of the house after a little bit.  The cats stalking it certainly didn't help.

Last of the Three Kings

This is the last set of Three Kings parade pictures.  I -should- have pictures from Teatro Verano and the inaugural parade soon.  I almost titled this post "dancing in the street" because there's a lot of that.  And at the end, not only the kings handing out alfajores, but a picture of the food vendors - did I mention the lax safety laws here?

Another Gift from Ana

Ana made these cute little bird and heart ornaments for us and gave them out on Friday.  Thank you so much, Ana.

Monogram Block - Colleen

Last month, we started the Monogram round robin.  Here is the first block I received - Colleen's.  At first, I wasn't taken with the block, but then it really grew on me.
I had to stop myself from adding more to it than I did.  Once I started working on it, the ideas just kept coming.  I hope she likes what I've done.

Adding Some Beads

I got a third section of City Walk done.  It's a beaded one, and the beads are strung in an odd pattern.  The directions were muddled, but the diagram helped a lot.

Fashion Faux Pas

Would you wear these things parading down the street?
