An Ornamental Finish!

I've finished my last of the three ornaments from the July stitchalong.  It's only three months late.  Not bad, for me.  The design is Dicken's Christmas by Keslyn.

It's Time

As I've finished the Berlinwork Sampler, it's time to get the Dawn of Spring Sampler done.  I have two parts to do.  Should be done soon!

I Love Doors

 These pictures are of things that caught my eye - like the lamps and the statue, but most especially the door!

Last Diamond To Go

I've got more diamonds done.  Only the last ones in the center remain.

I've got a few more triwings done on the tobacco road, and I like the way it's turning out.

Top Sandwich Isn't

 If you're going to serve sandwiches, at least make them good sandwiches.  Especially if your shop is named for them!  I was so looking forward to one - they're impossible to find here.  Soup was good.  Salad was good.  Sandwiches were, at best, meh.

Way Too Close

Odessa Muscle? Car

Not sure what it was, or what its engine size was, but it looked striking enough on the street for me to ask for pictures!

Monochrome Temari

I started another temari.  This is for my class, again, and we've moved to C8's with extra markings.  I've decided to make mine monochromatic.

Just doing more of the same and creeping away.  The peacock's neck is done, though!

I'm stuck on red for a while longer.  It's slow going, and especially moreso emotionally as I'm so close to the end.

No more houses or any structures done this time.  I was just filling in areas across.

Profiteroles Odessa

There's a cute little French bakery two blocks away from the walking street called Profiteroles.  We went in there looking for wifi, since we were having problems with it at our apartment.  While there, we enjoyed chicken quiche for breakfast.  I also had a cappucino.  The cup next to the quiche is full of sour cream.  It was pretty good.

Last Flower Done

It's pretty much all background to do now.  All the major elements are done!

Progressing To The End

I've decided to just finish this up, as I found some more of the floss I had run out of.  It's getting close!

None Are The Same

 In the neighborhood between the port and Deribaskaya Street, there was a law in the nineteenth century that no two houses could be architecturally similar.  These pictures show some of the resulting diversity.

Bits Of Tree

Got more shutter done and some bits of tree.  It feels like such slow going.

Thank You Anna!

Evidently, October 5th is Teacher Appreciation Day in Moldova.  What this means, in practice, is that students bring gifts to their teachers on that day.  If they don't, there's the possibility their grades may be negatively affected.  Anna, one of my temari students, gave me a gift of candy on the seventh, the day of our temari class.  Since I don't grade, I'm sure it was sincere!  Thank you very much, Anna!

The candy is by the local manufacturer Bucaria.  They make some very good candy and need to start exporting some.

Berlinwork Done

Here's a picture of my completed Berlinwork sampler by Pelin Tezer Zirh.  I did it over one, and this coin next to it shows how small it really is.  It's good to have something with this much work complete.

Bamboo

Transnistria (an unrecognized autonomous area within Moldova) has a pretty big textile industry.  One thing they do is make home goods for stores such as Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma.  If you go to their factory outlet, it's much much less expensive than buying in the US.  We went while we were on an embassy trip on Columbus day.  Part of what we bought was this circular bamboo-print tablecloth, a pair of hot pads, and a pair of chair pads that we are going to use as trivets.  All of this, at top quality (they don't sell seconds), came to about $20.  Not bad at all.
