Soup And Salad

Soup and salad at Green Hills.  The soup is -definitely- better than the salad.  This was supposed to be a chef's salad, but I've never seen bologna as the meat for one before - nor mayonnaise as the dressing.  Lesson learned!

Didn't mayo used to have the word dressing on the label? I found mayo used a lot on salad when I moved there in the early 80s. I grew up in Oregon and Miracle Whip was our choice for sandwiches. Hmmm...maybe it was Miracle Whip that had dressing on the label. Maybe you should be asking for oil and vinegar, bring a little bottle with seasoning in it and create your own dressing at the table. Might make them take notice.

Salad dressing is a mayo substitute in the States that doesn't have one (or more) of the ingredients of traditional mayonnaise. My choice is Miracle Whip, too, which is why we got a case of it last week....

I've threatened to carry some ranch dressing in my purse, but haven't gotten around to it yet!
